Hey Guys, Looking to pick up a 2011 Ferrari 458 at my local dealership. It has about 10k miles and is priced at 220k. First off, maintenance and reliability of a 2011 good or bad? Second, is it overpriced, in my opinion it is by about 15-20k. Thanks for any feedback, sorry if these questions have already been answered, new to the exotic car market.
Check out Ferrari of New England website. They have a 2012 458 with 7k miles for $220k, and a 2011 458 with 6k miles for $194k. Call them requesting the MSRP of these cars and then compare them to the one at your local dealer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Value is in the eye of the beholder. If having a relationship with the Ferrari dealer is worth while to you for future purchases, access, service or events or other reasons then the premium you'll pay at any of these places is worth it. If not there plenty of independent dealers with lower prices.
A) the price is always negotiable. B) MSRP only matters so much. If it has options you don't want, I wouldn't pay for them. There are many $350K (when new) coupes out there. Doesn't mean the options should have bearing on what you pay if you don't want those things. Sad but true fact for people such as myself. I option up these cars nicely when I buy them. I know I will only see fraction back of what I put into my specific spec. C) Buying local as said matters. Especially if you think you will want a new one/another one down the road. However, it does't matter that much as many guys at your dealer have bought many more before you! They will always be higher than you in the pecking order. As long as you service the car at your local dealer, that is all they will care about. Lots of money in service and repairs! D) Only a car that you really want is worth anything more than "the market" says it is worth. At this price point, you have to get what you want in my opinion. Be it new or pre-owned. Best
begrewal, I spent some time looking at 2010 and 2011s this weekend, fml, ebay, fchat etc. just to give you an idea id take 205k for my 2010 with 3500 miles and 265k msrp 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia in Blue Metallic | Hunting Ridge Motors
Unlike anything else, the 'right' kind of options matters a great deal if you were to enjoy a complete experience driving a Ferrari. It's financially advantageous to buy a Ferrari preowned, however finding one with the right color, options, etc. is a different matter. So it depends on what you consider as a must have in your next Ferrari. Getting the best possible deal alone does not make you love the car; having all the right options and in the right color certainly will! When I was able to purchase my first 458 Italia early last year (I prefer the coup), the car was no longer available for order new from dealers. I spent 8 months searching for the right color (Giallo) with carbon fiber steering wheel/dash/interior, alcantera trim throughout, and most importantly, the carbon fiber race seats. I did find one eventually and it was a fair deal. IMHO, the carbon fiber steering wheel and the race seats are must have options in the 458; whereas the standard equipment does not provide the complete tactile response, especially on a track. (i.e., the standard seats are too cushy with unnecessary weight and electrical gadgets.) Best of luck with your search for the next LOVE!
Don't pay a dime over 200k on a 2011, regardless of options. Way too many of these cars in the market. IMO 190k is the market on a 2011 coupe with decent options and mileage under 20k
BTW, I recently sold my 2011 coupe, it was a great car, very few issues and anything that did pop up was under warranty. I would make sure to buy one that had over 10k miles IF you are buying it out of warranty, as hopefully any defects in parts or manufacturing would have presented themselves previous and thus have been fixed under warranty.
Don't like the wheels, but reasonable pricing: Used Ferrari 458 Italia Chicago IL 11861647 Price still a little too high IMO: 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia Hinsdale IL 6958975 Best looking, optioned and price I've seen in a while: 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia | Scottsdale, Arizona | DDW Partners
I have owned 3 Ferrari s and now own a 458. My 2010 458 which I bought in 2010 has been very easy to live with. It is very reliable, just like other cars. I think the 360 and 430 in their day were very competitive sports car. I would prefer one of those cars instead. Maybe as memories fade things seem better. The 458 is not as fast or powerful as some cars you can buy today. The Lamborghini Adventador with 720 hp or C7 Corvette Z06 to name two. I like the car but in my view the 458 feels soft in handling. The power is not a lot but the dual clutch transmission makes it an okay performer. It is a beautiful car and body fit and finish is very good. At least up there with the best cars offered on the market today. When I bought my 2010 458 $270K was the MSRP for the car. the rub was no one would sell you the car for that unless you ordered a car a waited 1 full year if you could get in their waiting list Que. Sold to private party, it was highly optioned, like 315k+ msrp. Sold 205-210k range, miles were around 16k with 1.5 yr warranty remaining. I have found basically the exact same car, that could be bought back now for high 170s. Tempted to do it.
I haven't seen anyone bring up warranty. To the original poster does the 458 come with a one year Ferrari warranty?
None. I had a hose come off the first week of ownership. Other than that small thing a perfect car. The warranty was 3 years not one year as posted. It could be extended past that for a fee. I did not do the extended warranty and the has been perfect anyway. best Lee
I was asking whether the used 2011 458 he/she was interested in was a CPO with a 1 year warranty. That could explain the price.
my post was half sarcastic. I've been told im crazy that I'm looking for 200k for my 3500 mile car yet we've established wholesale at the auctions are 170k and those are usually bottom of the barrel cars no one wants. good luck!
