Stumbled across this site last night. I thought the difference in times quoted were interesting. Not sure if anyone has brought up this site before. Could this help confirm 95's are indeed packing a bit more punch? Flame away :)

Yes Dave but we have no independent F1 results. You're up! :)

No way a 95 is faster than an F1.

Although My 94-1/2 is not finished built yet, stock to stock, same tires, same gas, I say no way. F1 would take it every time.

Haha!!! Well Jim, you can shift a manual lighting fast!!

My F1 is awesome but we do know a 95 is more raw and a tad more power ;)

I think ( not based on any facts) that he F1 is faster than 95 in a first gear roll on because of shifting.

I know based on my experience its slow to launch. You are either lighting them up or bogging down. James would destroy my car in a mini cooper off the start let alone his 355.

There is a technique but it would be cool to have a drag race between the owners sometime.

I've been thinking about doing an event in grand bend. Great resort and facilities on Lake Huron along with a road course and a drag strip.

Lots to do for the wives too.

If you scroll a bit higher in the page, there is a section on the 355 which samples a '98 355F1. It posted a 4.6 sec 0-60 mph time, fastest of all 355s. It is also a GTS, not a (supposedly) lighter GTB. Too bad it did not list trap speeds as that would have been a good indication of horsepower.

    My 2c.

James posted a quater mile time and I know my F1 will not beat that. I think it as the low 12s

True. If you hammer the gas off the line, the F1 will smoke the tires :)

Need a gentle start and once rolling, then hammer :)

A manual can shift as quickly as an f1, just very tough to do over and over with no slow or missed shifts. I wouldn't expect it to be an issue 0-60 or 1/4 (you're talking two shifts) but on a race track it'll make a difference, especially under braking.

    Well.. 1 shift 0-60, 3 shifts in the 1/4 :)

Agreed it would make a difference on a race track. Enough to win or lose a race? Not sure. Would be neat to see the same driver go for his best lap in both.

I love my gated car for pure driving enjoyment, but in a second to third shift for the best time in the quarter, I'd prefer an F1. It's tough to get second to third perfect and lightning quick each and every time in a gated car; at least it is for me.

I just ground mine down and adjusted the linkage for better 2-3 and 4-5 shifts
You can alter it just a wee bit to that side of the gate

Cons are if I am on a steep angle 1st and reverse can be tricky

    :)

My gate was 'slick-shifted' at some point so I've never had an issue with the 2-3 shift. Biggest benefit it f1 is lfb, imo. That's worth a few tenths per lap even if you've fully mastered heel/toe and are an excellent driver.

Not to come across as some "know it all, I'm the best punk", but short of a turbo equipped 355, my F1 GTS would be very tough to beat. I own a C6 and my 355 beats it.
It's mapped, Cappy 3 Exhaust with cat delete (just replaced the tubi) Gruppe M intakes and other stuff. It's quick.

It would beat a great day to drag.

    me, personally::

    A) I don't use my dSLR shutter like a machine gun,
    B) I don't use my select fire gun as a machine gun,
    C) I don't care about how fast my F355 is in a 1/4 mile.

I was out of the loop for some time so I definitely missed out on that thread. Thanks for sharing.

What are your thoughts on the 200 cell cats for backpressure/response for our cars (2.7 Motronic)? Needed or no?

If you put the car in gear keeping your foot firmly pressed on the brake increasing the throttle pressure until verge of doing a brake stand, you launch as quick as anything on the road without breaking loose. For the first Three gears slightly lift your gas foot 1/2" or so between shifts then 3-6 keep foot flat on the floor, it's over, the F1 is gone.
It's all timing. 355 F1 is a very quick car if your experienced and know what your doing.
