Hi guys, Ive been asked by a member on here if I can post up some more pics of my project. Car is a RHD 1991 348tb. (1 of 130). Owned for 5 years. In the first couple of years I did very little work on the car. Just odds and sods. All the big stuff has been done over the last 3 winters so I could keep the car roadworthy in the summer months. Im totally involved with all aspects of the work and do all my own spanner work, re dying and prep work on the body. I entrusted the final painting of the shell to my good friend John who is a lifelong panel man. This folder is a photographic summary of the work carried out. My main thread for this project is on Club Scuderia in the UK if you wanted to check it out. Hope you enjoy the pics. I will be adding more at regular intervals as I finish off for this year. Love it or hate it this is my spin on the 348. Nick. https://www.flickr.com/gp/93727718@N06/78i11g Ferrari 348 engine bay and rear end restoration.
I did the vents a few years ago. They were done in Plasikote Matt black. I did lots of spray outs with different paints but this looked the best at the time. Im currently experimenting with more modern formulas of the original soft touch lacquer as I would like to revert back to this for originality, look and feel. Not everyones cup of tea I know but if it works it should be nice. N. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Plasti-kote-400ml-Super-Spray-Paint/dp/B004LLOMLW
Wow just amazing...looks like you have a 2016 348tb that just came off the assembly line. Congratulations, your hard work definitely paid off.
Nick, your many talents and your attention to detail are to be envied. This is truly a world class restoration. How many miles were on the car when you started and what do you intend to do with it after it's done? If my car looked that nice I'd almost hate to drive it. How much do you lack before it's "finished"? (We both know a work like that is never really finished, unless you store it in a time capsule) Thanks for sharing these, BTW. I've downloaded every one to use as inspiration in my own work.
It's wonderful seeing owners restore their cars to this level. Truely amazing resto Nick, thanks for sharing mate. I want to keep my car forever, but I just don't have the time or patience to perform a full resto like this on my 348. Can I send my car to you next?
Thanks Mike. You are welcome. Milage was around 28500 when I bought it. I have no intention of not driving it. I don't see the point in that. I should be done sometime in April ready for the summer. It mainly reassembly apart from the black interior parts which as I mentioned are ongoing. Waiting for another lacquer delivery from Italy at the moment for that.
Sensational, I have followed your thread on CS all 50 odd pages. Its great to have all your restore pics uploaded to flickr for instant inspiration!
Thanks guys. My pleasure. Its nice to add something potentially useful to an already great resource. Ultimately we do this sort of work for ourselves but its nice if others can gain something positive from it too. Happy days.
Thanks for sharing! You have included pics of so many needed areas of 348 restoration it is much appreciated. All I can say is once you have the 348 on the road for an hour it just starts to wake up like no other vehicle you have driven.
