Too many variables to diagnose over the internet without even a picture or an accurate description of the problem.

Who are you using? Brakes are the most important thing (steering a close second :) )- I would look on F-chat or discuss with people you know another capable mechanic to give it a second look...I'm not saying your mechanic is good or bad, just in this case it's worth finding out what happend! Did you lose brake fluid causing the failure? Is the level low now and causing the light to come on??

More information on what happened would be helpful.

Did you fail a brake hose and lose fluid from one circuit?

The red brake light is usually triggered by either or both the front and/or rear parts of the brake fluid reservoir being low on fluid. If one circuit lost fluid and has now been repaired and refilled but the switch is stuck, the light could stay on and the reason for the switch being stuck should be identified and corrected, but your mechanic should already know these things.

Brake failure caused by a faulty relay? Seems improbable, but Tim would be the better judge.

I think what he means is that there is a relay which controls the ABS valve body, which ABSs the brakes by diverting fluid after the master cylinder back to the reservoir.

I have a ferrari 348 1993.Experiencing loss of rear brakes and almost complete failure intermittently. If i tirn key to on position and wait for the exclamation light (brakes) to go out the brakes return to normal function. After driving a few minutes the exclamation light comes on again and if I keep driving, almost no brakes and foot to floor...the brake fluid level is normal.I have tried bleeding all brakes and clutch. No difference
ANYONE know what is going on?
    Thanks

There is a check and a pressure valve on the driver's side right where sub frame bolts to the car. I suspect that.

Likely no boost as the boost pump wasn't running. This is common and the pedal will get rock hard as there is no power assist

Hello if your brake light is on and you loose brake assistance bfter a few pedal operation I would think the brake pressure switch if it happens randomly.. had the same on my Mondial T

Thanks for the help.just got the car out of storage since Dec.When I start the car and wait for the lights on the dash to go out the brakes work normally. After a few minutes the exclamation warning light come on then after a few more minutes pedal goes right to floor. If I restart the car brakes reset back to normal.Same thing happens again.Where is the relay/fuse?
    Thanks

Most of the brake system components are in the forward luggage compartment (under the carpet/frunk liner). For info: The system has a self test which can be activated by putting a fuse in an empty slot next to the fuses and relays there.

Anyway, it's probably best to look for answers on the 348/355 forum. There is currently a conversation going on in relation to brakes failing after startup, but this was a special case relating to a starter relay modification.

For info, brake warning lights can have different labels on different cars. N.American cars usually have a "[BRAKE]" label, but on Euro cars, the brake warning light is [(!)] .
