    Interesting to see how different people are getting it, thanks for sharing. My favorite image: our daughter cleaning our car.

    I too have spent my own money and purchased the book and read it cover to cover.
    I think it is a nice coffee table book, plenty of pictures but it left me wanting more in terms of text.
    The reality is, with so much information available on the internet nowadays that the information contained in the vast majority of new books is nothing new.

    Glad you got the book, a resource for the car, I think funny thing is, with the Miura book I was told the opposite: too much text and stories, not enough illustrations & images! Even C&SC says the book will please those into facts & figures. In this book, the Homologation papers, the Reunion chapter, the Owners chapter with input form owners, and 75% of the images are hitherto unpublished. Books are a dying art-form, but, we are very happy with this one.

    Perhaps I am different to the vast majority, I have 400 plus books on Ferrari, plus full collection of Cavallino, Forza et al. I am a student of the marque and always looking to learn something new, as I previously said most stuff published nowadays is nothing new and some contain errors that has been printed countless times before (Anthony Pritchard's 250 GTO book for example).
    I am glad to have added your book to my collection and congratulate and commend you on the work (as I may have sounded critical in my previous post). What you have done is create a resource on the car that is accessible and enjoyable to the masses, it is my personal preference that would I have liked a little more text (the boring stuff).

    Thank you for the sentiments, books take many years to put together at huge time & expense. BTW, no offense ever taken, before you start a book you have to already accept that it cant be all things to all people. That said, I think it will stand the test of time, as the Miura book has.

    This is how the publisher Veloce UK describes the book, and I'd say that's both accurate & fair:

    "This book covers the background, conception, design, production and aftermath of the iconic Ferrari 288 GTO, including the prototypes, the early production cars, the mainstream production cars in their various specification guises, and the Evolution cars planned for the aborted Group B FIA race series.
    It features over 400 relevant photographs, from original production images to the cars as they are today, including the 1984 Geneva Salon where the car debuted, the first ever GTO Reunion in 1985, current salon and action images, right up to the 25th Anniversary Ferrari 288 GTO Reunion held in America in 2009. Also featured are the actual factory production approval sheets, as filed with the Italian government, in an illustrated technical drawing form, along with a chassis by chassis register of every 288 GTO built, including destroyed prototypes, production cars, and GTO Evoluziones – in fact all 284 cars ever built.
    This book contains essential resources covering all aspects of the car, including archives, maintenance specialists, restoration specialists, worldwide clubs, parts sources, etc. A comprehensive, beautifully illustrated look at a unique sports car, and a must-have for Ferrari fans."

    It is what it is, and the nice thing about books is, anyone can decide to do one with a different, better or broader perspective. If this book helps enlighten, or simply serves as a quality resource of sorts dedicated to the car, then its served its purpose.

    I have not read mine yet but in terms for price per ounce this is a very large heavy book for the somewhat reasonable cost! I am sure it will be excellent.

    Thanks for the sentiment. Both bert308 and yourself bring up an excellent point which I can personally weigh in on - considering the effort that went into this book, it is an absolute bargain!

    * Facts and figures
    * Owners' experiences
    * Lots of photographs

    All are exactly what I am looking for when I purchase an automotive-related coffee table book! Not sure what C&SC's issue is (or if they take pleasure in just being critical), but I have been waiting for this for a long time, Joe. My order is finally in, and I have yet to see any information to suggest that I might be disappointed.
