I'm starting a replica build of a 1960 Ferrari 246 F1 that I want to be as genuine as possible. Therefore I'm interested in any help with regards to blueprints, pictures of original cars, especially the chassi ans suspension or any tips of someone who might have such info. I've heard of a David Clarke who ownes/owned Graypaul Motors who build such a vehicle, but I haven't found a way to get in contact with him.

    Any tips are very appreciated.

PS: I'm currently planning the build, scanning for relevant parts in order to start in Sept/Oct

David Clarke died some years ago.
Generally people who have a rare set of drawings don't easily part with them, but good luck.
I'll take a set too if you find some!

The project is now in good progress - I was able to locate a chassi jig and 300+ pictures from a build 20+ years ago where the builders had access to the original chassi 0788. I expect to have a rolling chassi with original gearbox, supsension and wheels in september.

All in all well over expectations...

Will you start a build thread with pictures and all like omgjohn did for his Dino car?

No I will not. omgjohn's efforts with their thread and homepage is very impressive. I may post a few pics, but will have to focus on the build in order to make sure it's finished Q1 2010.

hi omgjohn, your efforts with your Dino was very impressive. I will not use the original Doni F1 engine to start with, mainly due to the cost of it, so I'll use the 246 road engine to start with. I wish my engine would look like yours, but I guess I'll save the money to buy the real thing in a couple of years.

this sounds like a really fun project. we all know how extensive jon has been on his cras, you don't need to be anywhere near that level. just a couple photo's here and there would be great. the dino section has been pretty slow lately, i know i would enjoy seeing progress, even if only so often, of this project.

Well done! Are you saying you've got patterns for the original suspension & gearbox as well?

Well, I have access to an original gearbox and in order to "copy it" I've had to make drawings to manufacture idientical parts. In terms of the suspension, Koni has made new dampers according to old drawings, and I've been fortunate to have found original parts for the suspension. It was not my orginal intention to make a true replica, but with the exception of the current engine, I'll be close to 85-90% true to the original.

I am from Argentina, I'm starting a replica of a Ferrari 246 F1, I do not have a lot of data rather than photos.
Nor have a large budget to be left 100% original, The mechanical (engine, gearbox, etc) would be another. Anyway, I like to leave it as closely as possible.
I need help, where I can find some information for the chassis.
Any information would be helpful for me. Thanks.

Gracias.

I'm from Argentina and I'm about to start building a replica of a Ferrari 246 F1, I know where I could get information to start building the chassis.
I do not intend to leave it 100% original, as it does not have the budget to do it.
Any help, photo, prints, etc. Thanks.
