I am doing a full suspension refresh on my '76 GTB and have been considering a number of options.
The OEM shocks are original to the car and are totally shot.

I found a thread here on the "uprated" springs from Superformance, but most seemed to be using them on the OEM Konis. Does anyone have any feedback on the SPAX dampers that they sell?

I would like to have something a bit tighter than stock, but not something that will rattle my teeth out, as this is strictly a street car.
The QA1s are a great setup I'm sure, but I believe to be a bit overkill for my application. if the SPAX setup with the uprated springs is a good in-between setup, then it may be just the ticket for me.

    Any info is appreciated.

If you are not a " street racer"/ value your teeth the OEM setup is just fine. The original Koni's can be rebuilt.

I like the Koni's when they are working properly.

Performance Shock in Sonoma can rebuild them and make them any way you want.

    Brian,

    IIRC they are adjustable.

How do you like them setup?

The stock Konis are based on pretty old school technology. They work fine when they're in good shape but there's lots more to be had from a newer technology damper. Sorry I can't provide any 308 specfics but my experience setting up other cars tells me that it'd very much be worth chasing more modern dampers if you're looking to upgrade your car.

Spax are not new technology though. Adjustability doesnt really add anything as most people would set them up wrongly and you cant tune a complex bump/rebound curve using one adjuster.

Konis are good but its a shame only a few 328 owners, mainly in the UK are lucky enough to have factory-fitted Bilsteins. They are sublime.

    Hi Chris,

I have tried to get some information about the SPAX set they sell. The only thing they told me was "They have 28 different settings damping adjustable rebound, height adjustable" and you can use them with their uprated springs. So, I asked what the range of the height adjustment would be and what the spring rates are. Reply:

"We do not know the total adjustment, just that it is a wide range

    Our spring rate is: 30808165 245 lbs/inch.
    30808180 235 lbs/inch

I have also tried to contact SPAX directly but they couldn't give any information because they build them specially for Superformance and was redirected to them again.

The result was that I kept it with the uprated springs only because I want to know what I buy. And I must say that I'm very satisfied with the uprated springs. My car is firmer than before and sits about 2 cm lower (Euro).
