Breaking news: It has been confirmed at least one 430 will be there and likely two. Head count is 96 right now, not sure how many cars, but sounds like a great turnout. Also, the Sunday concours will be held inside the hotel! That is the main reason they couldn't separate the show without including the banquet as it will all be together. Jennie and I leaving town from Norwoods at 5 tonight.
Im not an FCA member and I dont have a Ferrari but I do live around the Houston area and I was wondering if ya'll guys are going to "show-off" ya'lls cars to spectators and/or other members somewhere or around the Hotel like many other car clubs do. Im sure the Event Schedule will be keeping everyone busy though but just wondering.
That is not true from my talk with Grady this afternoon. Because the show is indoors in the same area as the banquet, they can't let the public in. Although you can get in for the show, food, and awards for $135 I think.
Day 1 Report: Left Norwoods 5:30pm. Traffic leaving Dallas. Heavy storms from about 30 miles outside Dallas until about 60 miles North of Woodlands. Had a hamburger at a McDonalds, entered when it was sprinkling, left in a downpour with 6 inches of water around the car. Arrived to Marriott Woodlands Waterway about 9:15. Very nice place, room overlooks waterway on 10th floor. Had a little more food and a few dinks at the bar Acqua downstairs. Car turned 60,000 on the way!!! Day 2 Morning Report: Slept in, catching up on email and FC, get some breakfast and then off for a run. Afternoon is wide open, no plans yet. View from room, they're still finishing off much of this river area... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I would say this entire area is about 95% built out. Of course the hotel is complete and there are two condo building across the way. One has people living in it and the other is still under construction.
Funny I am seeing the same buildings! Must be in the same hotel as you !!! How can you run in this wind, even the TR was buffetted on I-45
Day 2 Afternoon/Evening Report: Had a great run with Jennie. Had lunch with Dr. Who. Had beers with Jano & family along with Brian Ratcliff late afternoon. Got registered and then moved over to the jewelry store for the first reception from 5:30-7:00. Very nice and high end place, learned 10 times more than I knew before about watches I can't afford. 2nd reception back at the hotel with the silent auction. Looking forward to the rally tomorrow. The yellow truck is a special edition Boss Ford. It belongs to Dr. Who's business partner. What the **** is wrong with me? WHY didn't I go? Dale, I obviously haven't been following your trials and tribulations, I didn't know you sold the Stradale nor did I know you bought a Maser. You running high on estrogen these days, can't make a decision?
The cars were beautiful(especially the 430). Good to see Rob, Jennie, Jano and family and the cold beer at the bar. Sorry I missed meeting you Dale.
Day 3 Report: Early breakfast, then off with the rally. Very challenging and technical rally through old parts of Houston, down around the river, and then some beautiful mansion filled neighborhoods. Rally ended up at the monument and then over to Monument Inn for great seafood buffet. After lunch was a poker run that started with ferry ride and then eventually back to the hotel. Took a nap and now ready to get the party on! This morning up bright and early to bring the cars inside the convention center. The lunch and awards banquet will start shortly. Below is a list of the cars in the show.
