    Sadly, one of our members, George Manaras passed away suddenly last week.

    George was with us on the 27th at our opening dinner. This was the kind of guy you WANTED to be around. He was quite a character, who had it all, and who never hesitated to share it with others. He was the quintessential "bon vivant".

    He will be missed. :(

    Here is his obituary as it was published in the Montreal Gazette:

    GEORGE MANARAS
    Suddenly and unjustly taken away from us on May 8th 2012. Beloved husband of Isabelle, loving father of Michel and Andy, cherished son of Bessie and the late Mike, dear brother of Lily (Kosta) and treasured uncle to Angela. George will be mourned and deeply missed by countless friends, family members, colleagues and all who knew him. He will forever be remembered as a genuine, hard- working and above all, selfless man who took great pride in helping others. It is impossible to describe the sorrow felt but although George was taken much too soon, we find comfort in knowing that he truly lived his dream.
    The family will receive condolences at Rideau Funeral Home (4275 Sources Blvd, DDO, 514-685-3344) on Tuesday, May 15th, 2012 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. At 11 a.m. the following day, Wednesday, May 16th, a church service will take place at St. Michael's Church (11801 Av. Elie-Blanchard, Montreal), followed by burial at Cote-des-Neiges Cemetery.

    Condoleances to the family.....I sat next to him the entire night at the dinner and was looking forward to outings and activities with him, he was quite a character!!!!!!

    Sorry I missed the outing, I had work to do and I actually missed that too and had to send one of my employees instead while I spent the weekend sick in bed.

    That's a really cool milestone Bernie, what happened when you crossed over? Did you morph into another galaxy or something? Did it become 1978 again?

    Will there be any local FCA chapter events going on? I'm on the board in the NW Region FCA (membership chairman) and will be out to enjoy the sights and sounds of Montreal. ;)

    I was also wondering if there an event at the dealership, and how one gets on the invite list?

    Not sure if I'll be at the GP this year. I may score some lodge seats, courtesy of a friend of a friend. ;) Or I might have a nice spot on the couch with the cat, facing the TV.
