There were so many great cars it was impossible to get them all in one shot. Alfa, BMW M1, Porsche , Ferrari, Fiat, Mustang, Fisker, McLaren, Lotus, the only thing missing were cars from Lancia, and a Lambo or two.

I counted 58 cars on the lawn, of which 25 were Ferraris, but surprisingly, none of them was a 355.

Here are some of them, taken from the far corner.

Once again, the lure of Hilton Head made me miss the event. However, given Bonnie's arrival and by the looks of these photos, I obviously made the wrong choice. : (.

    GO TIGERS!

I've also noticed 355s are not as abundant at gatherings like they used to be.

There was a picture in the large detached double garage, showing a previous gathering in 1989 - somewhere near Atlanta, I believe. There were 275s, 330s, 250s, Daytonas, etc. Just incredible cars that are now locked away in "collections", rarely to be seen again.

Consolation for us was the Daytona (owned by the resident) and a 365 2+2 that came down. I actually chased that 365 nearly all the way back to Charlotte, before he decided to pit at a rest stop, whilst I kept going.

Here is part 1 of my photographic contribution, from Friday evening's cocktail party, but starting with the special Ferrari lot at the Garden Inn.

There was enough food to eliminate the need for dinner; all I had afterwards was a brownie at Fuddruckers!

Hey guys! Thanks to everyone for coming and making this a fun filled event!! We are always so lucky on the weather, and also with the awesome friends with beautiful cars! Thanks Jim, John, Adam, Kevin, and Brother for posting. Smiles are still on our faces. But most of all of course, I want to thank Julie. She is simply the best person I know and love. Yes I am lucky.

It takes an effort for everyone to get here, we so appreciate that. I cannot imagine driving a McLeran, Morgan or 50s speedster home in the rain, especially flooded Charleston. But that at least three did just that. Bless you! And the crowd that Kevin rounds up, and John with our P Friends and Cars and Coffee. Thank you! Now for next year....we had model planes and a real jump plane this year. Maybe we should add a fishing tournament, diving competition, and woods run. I hear they are popular now...lol.

Hey we missed seeing you guys, but of course we understand! Next year will be here before we know it, so we will see you then. And your Maserati was gorgeous! With those beautiful Naples people that drove it! Steve and Sherri

    Well stated.

The hosts put on a tremendous event and I felt very fortunate to be part of it - not to mention all the excellent food and drinks.

Saturday morning I enjoyed the great breakfast at the Garden Inn, probably the best hotel breakfast I've had since the Moat House in Telford, England about a decade earlier! I got the staff to switch the TV to NBCSN and watched Monaco qualifying, and a number of the other event attendees joined me. Then it was time to head over to Julie's.

A couple of interesting American cars were parked up on the hill. I always felt that the '57s were the best-looking Buicks of the decade, and this Roadmaster was first rate. The '64 Pontiac Le Mans was the only year that the compact was badged that way and not as a version of the Tempest; the following year it went mid-size.

And I'm a bit of a sucker for unusual license plates.....

After the awards were handed out, nine of us drivers saddled up and headed up to Highlands for dinner. (One car disappeared off the back when we reached Walhalla.) Including passengers and those who met us there, we had 21 people at the two tables.

We had a delay en route while a downed motorcyclist was dealt with by first-responders (we don't think he was badly injured), but we still arrived at the restaurant on time and enjoyed another great meal at Cyprus. I suggested ordering two appetizers instead of an entree, and several others did the same.

Most of us parked around the corner, but the photo of Main Street taken from the deck at Cyprus does include one Ferrari; can you find it?

refreshingly good post. I ride some of the same roads as often as possible. But hey, I used to descend on very very skinny wheels too, but then I found 25mm's this spring:)

We really enjoyed this event. What a fantastic venue and a great array of interesting cars, and nice people.

One last license plate photo here. The YES! Roadster is up for sale if anyone is interested, currently on the DuPont Registry. And will go on another online auction site next Saturday. Let me know if anyone has any questions.
