July 25-28 Rodneys Weekend For our 15th annual event, we plan to visit the US for the second time. In 2008, we toured the Finger Lakes Region of Upper NY State. This year we plan a stay near Saratoga Springs, well known for thoroughbred racing. We will tour the region and plan to visit a private car collection. Saratoga itself has an automobile museum and is close to the Adirondack National Park, Lake George, and Lake Placid. This years Equestrian Show and Drive scheduled for September 21 has been regrettably cancelled due to logistical issues with the show facility as it transitions to become PanAm Games ready. But, to satisfy your passion for ponies, we have a couple of great events to tell you about, and both are polo matches. Saturday, September 6, Polo Niagara has invited FCA Canada East to be part of their historic demonstration match on one of the most historic sites in Canada the Niagara Common in the heart of Niagara-On-The-Lake. Organizers have set aside secure, prime Ferrari parking in the VIP area (with in and out privileges) as well as a tent to serve as our club home base during the day. Come early and be part of the Polo Parade through town, spend the day enjoying the shops and restaurants of Niagara-On-The-Lake, taste some wine, and watch some international class polo in an historic setting. A new drive has been added to our calendar. Linda Pabst, organizer of our annual Equestrian Drive has announced a drive to Polo for Palliative Care at the Gormley Polo Centre in Richmond Hill on Sunday September 14th. For many years Ian Carlsen, a long time Ferrari Club member, along with his late wife, Ingrid, has been active in this charity which raises money for hospice care. In Ingrids honour Ian is chairing this years event, dubbed The Emerald Chukker With Hats and Champagne, which will include an attempt to break a champagne world record! Ian has set aside some tables for club members. Cost is $95.00 per person and includes a buffet lunch, a silent/art auction and special parking for Ferrari cars. The drive will commence at Brownsville Plaza at 17250 Hwy 27 Schomberg (at Doctor Kay Dr.). Meet at 9:00 am with wheels rolling at 9:30 sharp, arriving at the Polo field at 10:45.
