Very odd that they're looking for witnesses. At 545pm there should be enough witnesses. I45 is heavily trafficked.

  4. One of the downsides of a carbon monocoque.

    Light and strong, but brittle.

Carbon fiber is brittle. Actually when carbon fiber reacts its limits if fails catastrophically whereas steel fails progressively. There is no elongation with carbon fiber like with steel before failure. Great for strength within it's operation limits but get beyond them and there is no safety zone whatsoever.

So sad for the family .
    It looks like a Cielo.
I wonder if it was a coupe would the result of the accident be any different?

    His shoe came off.
Doesn't look like it caught fire.
The passenger compartment is relatively intact.

Yes, the passenger side looked very survivable. Can't say the same for the driver's side.

I own an MC20 and work on it. Car did not split in half it separated at the point where the carbon fiber tub ends in the aluminum and steel rear sub frame attaches like it’s supposed to during a wreck like that.
This car has a very strong, heavy carbon fiber tub as you can see how well the cabin survived.
Very interesting there’s no airbags deployed that I can see!
