    Has anyone tried these?
Universal O2 Spacers with Catalytic Converters - Fabspeed Motorsport

I just put angled spacers in mine, trying to avoid CELs with straight pipes. As it stands, I've been swapping back to OEM cats temporarily every year to pass inspection (OBDII). Be nice to have something in the car that keeps the CELs from popping up but still allows straight pipes to stay in place.

Did searches, but didn't find any threads on them here.

    wow that is incredible!!

could finally offer option to go test pipes on 5.2 cars with no issues!

EricC somewhat achieved this on his 5.2 car.
he runs test pipes on with o2 spacers but he stuffed steal wool inside the spacer.
and apparently he gets no CEL even on a 5.2 car.

I have their original 90 degree bent pipe spacers for the secondary O2's and they work great. They fit either test pipes or cats. I've had them on both and no codes either way. But didn't know these existed. They must be pretty new. Since the old ones work just fine, I'm curious what the benefit is for these.

How does that little cat get enough of the main exhaust flow to heat-up sufficiently for the cat to actually function ?

Good question. Neat idea though! If anyone is interested send me one to test and I'll post before/after waveform.

being connected directly to the cat or test pipe
I would assume the spacer and mini cat would heat up as hot.
enough to scrub the gas enough to fool the sensor.

I have had them since 2010 0n my 355. It allways passed CA emmisions. I do ni have straigt pipes though just tubi headers, capristo twin valve and hylerflow cats. It went from getting cels every month to cel less than 1 per year.

A very good question. It reminds me of some high altitude testing of atmospheric composition what was done years ago. An instrument that looked a lot like a small tin can, open at the front was attached to a small rocket. The data showed that the composition at altitude was that same as that at sea level. The problem was as soon as the rocket fired that air stagnated in the can and it never collected any air from altitude. The fix was to drill a few small vent holes in the back side to allow some flow through the collector.

Perhaps the pulsating pressures in the exhaust system are enough to cycle the sample in these simulators. If not, a small vent hole might be required.

Yeah, Bob, if my just-installed 90 degree angle extenders don't keep the CELs away, those were going to be my next step per a recommendation from you a while back on another thread. I had it bookmarked. ;)

I just figured since lots of people here have other Fabspeed stuff on their cars, someone might be able to speak to these specifically. Was even half expecting FS themselves to chime in.

Taz, you've had the extenders with mini cats in them... or just the angled extenders?

I hadn't noticed these on the Fabspeed site over the years before, so I assumed they were fairly new. They seemed unknown to others on this thread as well so them being around since 2010 seemed unlikely to me.

I'm familiar with the hit/miss success of avoiding CELs with just the angled extenders (plus steel wool in them, etc)... was curious about these with the cats built in specifically.

Skip is the person who brought the mini cats to my attention. I wasn't aware of them until the other day either.

I think i would have to say they solved it. The odd time i do get a check engine now it is usually because the o2 sensor is bad and not doing its job perfectly.

What i have found is once you go to aftermarket header, hyperflows, and a aftermarket muffler the system is much more sensitive. If the o2 sensors start to deteriorate the stft (short term fuel trim) and ltft get near the limits fast. This is what usually throws the light.

New o2s and its all good for another few years.
