Hey guys, Giving my new FS headers a once over thinking man that's a nice bit of kit. My OEM headers still holding out so not so don't need to fit them right now but only a matter of time (tick! tick!). I have read on here that few guys have had issues with slight gas leaks at the mount flanges once fitted to the car. I decided to run a straight edge along the face of the flanges and found that the flanges are a wee bit outa wack by around 1-1.5 mm. I did contact FS and they are saying that they meet QA standards and they will pull up ok. Any u guys had fitment/leaking issues. Cheers
I guess they would pull up ok, but while they're still off the car, if it were me i'd be having them decked so that they're flush.
$80 at a machine shop they will be perfect. who thinks 1-1.5mm is good qa/qc? Puzzled sometimes this hobby puzzles me
I installed a set that eventually leaked. And FB (once called) only offered new gaskets ~ that they wanted me to pay for. However being mechanical I removed them, corrected the flange and reinstalled them (with new gaskets).
U would think the price they get for these they would be perfect.probably because there made in China lol. Sent from my SM-G996U1 using Tapatalk
China facilities have the capability for precision machining and fab. the fab process needs another step to either deck every set or weld jig changes to avoid distortion or better qa qc to kick out bad sets. for >3,000 usd I don’t want to do this work myself…. I had to do this for my budget topspeed headers…
I thought that the 360 headers held up well and it was the 430 headers that were destined to fail. Is the incidence of 360 header failure going up?
Not exactly thrilled with the finished product or there QC. I heard so much good chat about there headers. They spend so much time on the polishing side for the bling factor when most guys fit the blankets or have them ceramic coated. Tis wat it is i guess and it's off to the machine shop i go, then off for ceramic coating. My buddy tells me there's a local shop that has a meter long belt sander specially for this job but 1-1.5 mm distortion that's a lot of sanding to done Cheers lads
Pretty sure people say pre cats fail on 360 and get sucked back into the motor. But what percentage I have bo clue Sent from my SM-G996U1 using Tapatalk
Don't do fabspeed or top speed, they change your cars tone, stops sounding like a Ferrari. Stick with the OEM and loose the material.
Ordered parts should fit properly without the need for additional machining or excuses. If they are not correct they should be exchanged for the correct fit parts without excuses or costs.
I'm a new owner so no expert at all, but my CS headers with 18,000 miles were cracked. Found it in PPI so no huge deal and replaced them with Tubi, but wanted to post it here that it is a known issue on 360s.
I heard reviews of this and it is one reason I did not buy Fabspeed headers and spent more on getting Tubi headers. The quality was perfect, and they already are heat wrapped. For what it's worth, they only took 4 weeks to make after I ordered them and were delivered about 1 week earlier than the expected ship date I was told when I bought them. Would highly recommend Tubi!
Rats. Need two Challenge wheels(mine are cracked by the same pot holes that bent my shock bushings) and now I hear that I should start shopping for new headers. I do my own wrenching so that reduces the financial pain a little. Always something.
About the Tubi headers? I now have a Tubi exhaust and cat delete test pipes and the car is loud. Will the Tubi headers make it significantly louder than it now is?
If your factory headers are post 1999 US spec and therefor have precats, then yes, it will be even loader.
Catless headers and no main cats will make the car obnoxiously loud. Basically It will sound not too different to a 360 Challenge race car which is a bit too much on the street and make you enjoy the car less - its just too much. I'd be surprised if you didn't get cops pulling you regularly with that setup... Its extremely L-O-U-D.
Speaking of, my shop is about to work with your US guy on getting the tune downloaded on my car. It's got it's factory CS muffler, but Tubi headers and Tubi cats. For the valve's RPMs, I was thinking of leaving regular mode how it is now, but in RACE mode to change the valves to be open all the time, including at idle. What do you think? Too much? What would you recommend? I trust your thoughts on this since you did all this work and have experimented a lot.
Thank you. It is too loud now and drones horribly at ~ 60mph cruise speeds. I will wait until my OEM headers act up and then make a decision. Why "fix" what is not broken? So far OK at 27K miles.
My buddies 1999 euro 360 (stock catless headers) w stock cats and this crazy ti x pipe thing w no muffler on as ridiculously loud! I hid under the dashboard for fear of getting put under the jail w each ride in that thing! He came to his senses and put the cs muffler back in!
watching this thread closely as I am about to pull the trigger on a set of headers and now leaning towards the Tubi’s Cheers Steve
