I think that’s the standard ‘technica’, I think they call it. It’s what you get if you don’t choose leather or alcantara for headliner for example. It’s what my F8 has for a headliner.

Yes, indeed, my reply was very vague. I was intending to recommend Alcantera. Imo an amazingly beautiful product that I speced in my F8. Try

I’m pretty sure I saw somewhere on mine that it is something called technica or dynamica- something weird like that. I’m sure it’s a just a name they gave it for a weird, cheap nylon fabric lol.

"Technical fabric" is basically a generic marketing term. Without doing a lot of research into exactly what is being used over there in Italy, I'd say it's largely Ferrari marketing speak for, "we made your interior out of recycled plastic water bottles" - or something very close.

Kind of reminds me when I got into an slight disagreement with my children's late mother: When my daughter was 1 or 2 years old, I pointed out that I'm very allergic to polyester, so our kids should really only have 100% cotton baby blankets in their cribs. Of course, this meant discarding the cute little "baby duck themed" polyester blanket that someone had just gifted us during the baby shower. I wouldn't say me wanting to throw that blanket out started World War III, but it definitely was a small scale skirmish that nearly escalated to theater-wide nukes.

Anyway, I tried to explain that cotton is organic and comes from a plant; whereas polyester is not - given that there's no such thing as a polyester tree/plant in nature. Even after a video on YouTube of how polyester is spun from recycled plastic water bottles (and other plastics from the waste recycling company), I was still met with a lot of skepticism.

Ultimately, the duck blanket ended up at the salvation army as I recall.

Here's some info from Ferrari - "special technical fabric". Cool.

Some years ago I bought a roll of Alcantera so I could reupholster the dash on my 458. Never ended up completing that job, but man oh man, the value of Alcantera skyrocketed when supply in the US dried up. I believe I ended up selling the roll to someone here on Ferrarichat or maybe ebay. I think it went up nearly 4X from what I paid.
