Does it bother any of the airplane owners here that anyone can enter the tail number of your plane and get not only your name but also mailing and physical address? Has there been any push to get this changed? Just seems like it's asking for trouble when anyone can get so much information about an airplane owner so easily.
    Thanks.

I highly doubt it will change. You can do that with almost anything on the internet and it will give way to much information. Scary....

I use that all the time. Either the owner’s name comes up then LLC. Searching the LLC usually leads to a name. Then I use airman registry to look up pilots. Then their address normally comes up on that and if not, then white pages will find it.

Airman registry tells a lot if you know how to disseminate the information.

For example, I had an older guy call up and chew out one of my instructors. He was accusatory and threatening. Both planes on an IFR flight plan practicing approaches at night and the bozo thought my guy was too close to him. I used flight tracker to look it up and my guy was a good 4+ miles behind him on the approach, again guided by ATC. I then did the above process to get his name. He recently turned 65 with airline type ratings. I determined he was just an arrogant know it all who is feeling impotent after retirement and wanted to swing his balls bullying some kid. I digress, but I use the above process to find people all the time. Phone number can lead to name too, then airman registry.

Simple solution, be respectful to everyone at all times. It’s a small industry/community. If someone wants your information, they’ll find it no matter what.

You can opt out of sharing your address and social security number in your IACRA.

Heck, my social security number was out there for decades in the FAA data! Finally changed that... it's in a lot of old logbooks, as well.

In the airman registry, you can choose to hide your address. If you look up famous people there, you will often see it hidden... or a hangar or something like that. For instance, if you look up Harrison Ford, you will see his hangar address.

As for aircraft registration, it really depends on how concerned you are. If you are really concerned, the big banks offer "trustee" services where the aircraft will be registered in the name of, say, Wells Fargo Trustee, and that's all you see. The next level down would be to have it owned by a Delaware corporation, which can hide the owners, and then from there maybe a local LLC or whatever.

Or, alternatively, you can list your hangar address as the address in the FAA registry. I think you can list a PO Box? Not sure about that one.

So there are lots of ways... or you can just not worry about it that much.
