The exhaust isn’t the difference maker: the cats are

It was better (mostly louder/deeper at start up) but I would only give it one point increase. Ferrari needs to find a way to fix the sound with GPF. Maybe the 296 will be better but won't know that until I drive it (F8 sound better in Ferrari videos than in person so I am still skeptical).

The only catch is that there is a GPF in the way. Whereas the 488 and Pista its straight from the cats.

The GPF will and does add further resistance.

What i believe will work is this unit to open the valves but seeing an exhaust specialist that will weld a pipe that will by pass the GPF whilst still having the GPF there ( I wouldnt remove the GPF under any circumstance but thats just IMO ).

I was at my dealer the other day and a F8 drove by in the parking lot and out into the street…decent amount of acceleration….. I said out loud boy that sounds like crap! I actually could hardly hear it in the street.

Angelo , I’ll let you know how it sounds just as soon as my dealer can pick up my car for the install . I’m definitely not going to f*** with the GPF though as not to void my warranty. Also this is exactly why I’m having my F dealer do the install. It certainly can’t sound worse . Lol

Agree - other than sound (and wheel gap)............the F8 is worth every penny. Just depends on how much sound means to you :)

They look pretty but i just dont get the design.

The layout is the same as a 488 GTB / Pista.

OEM has the muffler in the center. If you open the valves its a straight line cat > exhaust pipe.

The kline now has the muffler in line with the cat > muffler > exhaust

Why put the muffler in line ? Also has no GPF .

I dont get it. Wouldnt just removing the OEM GPF and replace that section with a pipe do the same thing ?

It’s essentially a valved X pipe. When the valves are closed the exhaust flows thru the small resonator/muffler to eliminate any resonance/drone with some noise reduction. With the valves open the resonator is bypassed and exhaust flows like an x pipe.

Not quite, I satisfied that with a 812SF....I am glad that I encountered this problem, it led me to what I always wanted!

Stopped by to check out the exhaust note at McLaren-Charlotte today. I thought there was a super car shortage. They had cars all over the place! Of course someone just placed a deposit on the F8 (supposedly) so I couldn’t take it for a drive but did crank it up. For me, the exhaust was plenty loud at cold start up and once it settled, and I revved the engine, I thought it was fine as well. Maybe it’s different when driving but compared to my 488, I wasn’t disappointed. Now, awaiting 10R or whatever it is...

You will love the F8 don’t let the haters make you question your choice. Could it sound better? Yes, but everything else is incredible!

But thats what the OEM exhaust already does ? Unless this x pipe somehow does something to the sound ?

I think the exhaust should always flow through the X pipe on the Kline. The stock doesn’t have an X pipe configuration, which typically lifts the pitch by blending the gases together.

The 2 owners of Pista's that i saw and heard with the Kline ultimately didnt like them.

At the time I heard a higher pitch when they revved the cars but it didnt translate on the open road ?

    Hence I cancelled my order.

I haven’t been convinced in videos. Only the Novitec non valved has given me any hope.

I just did a track day yesterday and spend about 10 minutes behind a 488 with Kline. I thought is sounded really good (and that was with my helmet on!) but obviously it was on a track - not normal driving............

Drove an F8 Spider yesterday with the top up and windows closed. Sounded OK; not great, but OK. If that’s as good as it gets, I can live with it. That said, if a bypass valve controller can be designed to operate without throwing a CEL, that would be great. Short of that, I have no interest in replacing any part of the exhaust system.

Update : Ferrari Tampa is picking up my rig on Monday for the install as well as a problem with the rear back up sensor failure. I’ll have my car back on Friday with the Forzza controller installed. I’m sure it will be an improvement. It can’t be worse , lol.
