    Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone knows the "exact" differences between the 3 different years in the 599 fiorano? (2007, 2008, 2009)

From what I've read on here 2007 to 2008 there was a wheel change and carbon ceramic brakes became standard and some battery thing ???

Does anyone know exactly please what major changes were between these years: 2007, 2008, 2009)

There was a major upgrade to the Motronic 7.3.2 already fitted on the 599 and 612 in Summer/Fall 2007. See the thread above for other details. Not much difference between MY08-MY11 standard 599s, except the HGTE option became available for MY10 here in the US, and there were 60th Anniversary of Gonzales' 1951 British GP victory HGTEs in 2011.

There were always two wheel choices, the challenge style wheels and the pentagram wheels (which I think look great on the car). Later on unique to HGTE wheels could also be added as part of that particular pack.

Jacques- The HGTE wheels were also available as a separate option starting in late 2009 when the HGTE package became available.

The pentagram wheels are incredibly unpopular. It's very rare to see them. I think 90% of the non-HGTE 599's came with the challenge wheels ( A masterpiece of wheel design IMO)

James- US 07s with serial numbers of 156938 and above have the upgraded 7.3.2, but could still have steel brakes. With CCMs, essentially no difference between late 07s and 08s, except possibly no standard CTEK battery charger.

My 07 has ceramic brakes and the pentagram wheels. I absolutely love them as they are classic Ferrari to me.

Agree I also like the pentagram wheels. The challenge wheels to me are similar/the same design as could be fitted to the 430 at the time, the pentagrams are unique to the 599.

    I disagree with this immensely.

The Motronic update, while perhaps "major" in its technical advancements, is not something that is noticeable to the average user while driving.

A 2007 car will be substantially cheaper, and the non-upgraded Motronic will do a buyer just fine when $thousands extra are in his pocket. The 2007 599 is just as much a 599 as any other 599. The 599 is awesome.

What exactly does the Motronic update encompass? Is there a noticeable difference in any aspect of the drivability?

Roupin- Beats me, I just know the HGTE performance upgrade is not compatible with the early 7.3.2. On the 612, the same 7.3.2 upgrade meant changing from HGTC/HGTS handling packages to HGT2. Those upgrades are quite often reliability upgrades, and, less often, performance upgrades. Getting info from Ferrari is like pulling teeth, and it took me a while to figure out what had happened.

Taz here's one for you. What's the difference between a 2010 599 HGTE and a 2008 599 that's been fully upgraded with the factory HGTE package at the dealer, after delivery of course. For example the 2008 599 HGTE that's for sale currently at CNC Motors in Ontario, Ca. Of course the seats are different but is the performance the same?

Eric- Pretty much nothing except cosmetics. The factory kit pretty much duplicates the performance features of HGTE, but not the HGTE interior. Here is a description of what the kit includes, courtesy of Boardwalk. Cam's upgraded HGTE is a great deal.

    599 HGTE Retrofit kit
    ________________________________________
For your 599, we offer the HGTE Retrofit kit which includes...

Handling package - consisting of new more rigid springs and rear anti-roll bar as well as new calibration for the magnetorheological shock absorbers when in the sporty positions of the Manettino (SPORT and RACE positions). The handling features a better response time and a feeling of increased compactness without unduly compromising driving comfort. The car’s ride height has also been reduced and therefore the center of gravity lowered still further, which helps with the reduction of weight shift. The lowering of the center of mass combined with the new setup helps to reduce the squat and dive as well as pitch and roll, with the resulting benefit to the car’s dynamic performance.

This setting reduces the static roll and rolling movements on the tracks as well as pitching. This gives the car faster turn-in and less under-steer effect. The car’s performance has also been improved with new tires which have been specially optimized for this package. They are characterized by a compound that helps to allow even more effective grip for better road holding combined with excellent ease of control.

The front tires are fitted on modular rims with increased rigidity and a larger track. This improves axle performance which facilitates turn-in.

These results are achieved through both mechanical and software changes:
    • Lower suspension (10mm)
    • New magnetorheologically controlled suspension calibration for the Manettino
    SPORT and RACE configurations
    • More rigid suspension springs (front + 16%, rear + 10%)
    • More rigid rear antiroll bars (diameter increased to 24.5 mm)
    • Tires with improved compound
    • Modular rims with reduced weight and special new design

The kit also adds a strong styling component: the 20” modular rims with new design and finishing treatment. The rims have a forged flange to benefit weight. The design of the spokes is highlighted by a diamond surface treatment with a technical matte transparent trim called “Silver Corsa”.

Performance package - NOTE-This kit cannot be installed on cars with manual gearboxes. Cars with VIN 156938 and greater can use this kit or HGTE Exhaust Kit part number 70001493 which is mufflers only.

The installation of the “HGTE Performance” kit, which includes the replacement of the mufflers, exhaust pipes and new software settings, offers the client faster response of the engine controls. This enhances the car’s dynamic qualities which can be best experienced on the track.

In performance driving conditions, the F1 gearbox activation is now more rapid. Indeed, thanks to optimized electronic control, the response time of the gear change command system has been reduced by 20 milliseconds during downshifting. A further enhancement involves engine control, which includes
accelerator logic with modified mapping that enhances the rapid increase in revolutions along the wide engine use field.

In addition, this kit includes exhaust tailpipes which are further enhanced in the rear ¾ views by the black chroming treatment on the side surface. The styling characteristics of the tailpipes are combined with a modification of the exhaust muffler. The sound produced by the car is more pronounced and exciting, especially for sports use, while maintaining a good level of comfort at cruising speed.

    Exhaust - Mufflers only upgrade

    Asthetic (exterior only) -
Together with the other kits, or individually, this kit completes the “customization” of the exterior. It enhances the front area with the use of a grille with a special chromatic treatment where the Prancing Horse has a more definitive appearance due to a special brushed-finish treatment. The Prancing Horse with the same treatment is also available on the rear lid.

Note I did make a few mistakes in this one. Early 599s actually had Motronic 7.1.1, like the early 612s, 575M, and Enzo. At SN 156938 in Fall 2007, the change was made to Motronic 7.3.2.

I'm in the market for a 599. Does anyone know the major differences throughout the years? I have found several sites that quote faster 0-60 times in the later model GTB compared to the 07-09. They quote like 3.3 on the 10 - 12 compared to 3.6 for the earlier ones. They refer to the GTO as posting 3.1. I didn't know the GTB had any significant upgrade to get it into the 3.3 range. Does this make sense? What years should I be looking for? Thx.

Buy the best car you can afford and maintain. In terms of performance differences, not meaningful in the real world. Frank

I looked at cars from 2007-2010, a lot of them. Not much difference. Eventually I found exactly what I wanted and bought it, happened to be a 2009.

I agree with the other advice. Figure out what you want first, really color, condition, and miles, then find one, newer is always better, but not much of a difference with a 599.

After 2007 (the first model year),the MSRP went up by $39,000. Some options became standard, and some extra profit was added. I have never heard of any performance differences other than HGTE (a $30,000 option that became available in 2009) and the carbon brakes that became standard for 2008.

Thx to the ones who offered advice and help.

Didn't see any 0-60 time info on the posts before mine so sorry to waste the others time. Just trying to collect info before shopping. Thought that's what the thread was about.
