My dashboard is not functioning correctly mainly due to humidity. I was wondering if other has encountered similar problem and what is the best way to fix the problem?

I don't own one but I beleive when the dash goes out in an F50 it needs to go back to the factory for an overhaul and it is not cheap. Like I said I don't own one but have seen this topic come up from time to time about the F50 dash.

I once read an article about the problems associated with F50 dashboards and owners would send them back to Maranello for them to be fixed. I also heard that this would take up to 6 months! I believe the article was written by Michael Sheehan and he was stating that there is an alternative option in which the dashboard could be fixed in California. Exactly where in California I don't know. Since you're in Hong Kong, I don't know if the potential California solution would help. Anyway, here is a number for FAI (Francorchamps of America Inc) in Costa Mesa, CA (949-631-6373) and the proprietor's name is Rod Drew. He could put you in touch with Michael Sheehan and possibly others who could provide additional options/solutions. I'll try to locate the article by Michael Sheehan and forward it to you as well.

yimn, i hope it isn't a bad problem, 6 months without being able to drive will be torture (i assume you can't drive it without a dashboard? )

I have sent a customers dash back to FNA and then back to Italy before. The total turn around was less then 2.5 weeks. It is not a major ordeal as others are playing it up to be. This was done back in late 2002.

the only time i have had my dash go out is with low battery. i know i sound like a broken record on this battery crap but its easy enuf to check that first.

btw yimn, you are right; there is ac in the f50 but mine is not ac'ing so back to the shop it goes. oh i should have got these cars in blue. then i could have the ferrari blue's. er wait a second, im selling the blue one.. ;)

I was also told by the dealer that it will take about 4-6weeks not 6 months. But I am thinking whether there is a long-lasting solution to the problem. Like updating the system to modern day standard. What I am worried about is if 10 years from now, the dash goes broke again, no one will know how to fix it.

    Yimn,

When we sent in my customers cluster to FNA, I was told that the wait would be about a month as well. For once, Ferrari was able to perform better then expected. Good luck with whatever soloution you go with.

    Regards~

I was just wondering..could you not send it to a place that does electronic work..maybe a place that reapirs the dash's in say like and old Corvette anything around the 84-89 model year. They are all digital aswell and they can be repaired. I would think that technology in the aftermarket would have caught up to this by now...There are a few places in my area that do specialize in gauges and digital displays of all sorts..either anolog or digital. Maybe somthing you could look into. But Maybe I'm way off on this one

The sound is amazing. Esp. thru straight pipes. It's very light. It handles like a Go Kart. The gear box and brakes are fine. As you go by people smile and wave. So far a short drive but as soon as we have her checked out I'm heading for Vermont!
