    Hi,
Purchased a F430 MY2008 with just 15k on the odo and compared to my 456M do I experience a rather strange steering behaviour.
    1) When manouvring in reverse and full lock (parking speed), is there a kind of tyre hop including a knocking noise.
    2) Turning the steering wheel back to center comes 'with steps' at vehicle speeds between 20 and 60kph on country roads or hairpins. So after the apex not while steering in.

Are both of these normal or is there anything wrong with the ball joints?

    Thanks, best regards Jan

I have a MY 2008 and don't experience this. There must be an issue. I'm not a mechanic so I can't help there.

Jan- First thing I do with a new, used car is change all the fluids, including the power steering fluid, and align the suspension. Then see if you still have a problem and have someone diagnose it.

    Has the car been lowered?
I wanted to lower my 430 but it was strongly discouraged by Tony D, the former shop foreman at Algar.
He told me the experience steering problems when lowered.

I get the wheel hop thing on full lock when I first start moving the car, when I've searched in the past I found other people experiencing this so I thought it was normal

Now that I remember, I used to have that issue on my 05' F430. I always thought that it was a cold tire issue.

My '07 does this too. I notice the "wheel hop" at full lock reversing out of the garage. Ball joints just checked out all fine.

Thanks for the feedback. The tyre hop might then be 'normal' the second phenomenon is not experienced by you guys then. Will have alignment, fluïd and ball joints checked.

    Regards, Jan

I’ve number 1 and I thought it was an issue. So it seems it’s normal?

    I’ve also a question.
When I turn the wheel in lock position, right or left, I hear a slight hissing sound, like fluid moving, liquid whooshing sounds. It goes away immediately, if I steer back.
Does any of you experience the same thing?

My 2009 does this also. I think it’s the outside tire having to roll further than the inside tire, during a tight, slow speed turn.

The power steering will build up pressure until it gets to end of travel and then unload or lift a relief valve, i would think it is the fluid u r hearing.
