The check engine light is staying on in my 05 F430 F1. It has around 16,500 miles and has always been well taken care of. I’m thinking about getting a diagnostic tool and was curious what y’all think of that idea. Any diagnostic tool that’s highly recommended ??? Chances are that I won’t be doing the repairs myself, but “maybe” I’ll get lucky and it’s something that I don’t have to trailer the car to get fixed. I’m kind of over trailering the car for hours, for every little thing !!! Thank You, Dominic
Get any OBD diag tool capable that is capable of pulling the codes from both LH and RH engine control modules and your good. Post the Pxxxx codes on here and we can advise. E.g. Since you won't be doing work yourself ..get ap200 ..cheap and has all you ever need ..get the white one in Amazon Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
That one looks like it’s sold in auto parts stores. If that’s the case, maybe I can find one locally !!! Thank You !!!
Is this the Autel MaxiAP AP200 that's only $50 ? Q. Do you have some screenshots? I've had my Foxwell for a few years now and obviously its a handheld "Stand alone" that doesn't rely on your phone but ofcourse I'm sure Android App based diag tools are much cheaper and will do just fine in this case, no need for a screen, handheld computer, etc. just a simple obd k-line serial interface to bluetooth dongle to connect to your phone..

So I just ordered this on Amazon. 69 bucks. It’s supposed to get delivered Thursday. If it does what I need, great. If not, I’ll contact Foxwell and get the exact one that I need. I’m excited to give it a try !!! Thank You All, Dominic Image Unavailable, Please Login
A Dominick helping a Dominic ..cool If have you have issues with the use of it ..reach out Sometimes you have to pick different tcu modules depending on year of car ..sometimes even use one that is not in your car Like for a.late model 360 ..you can iirc chose 430 231 tcu and it gives you "correct" data Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
My mother said my name was long enough and so she left off the “k” I’ve also learned that “SAINT DOMINIC” doesn’t have a “k” LOL I was just reading about clutch life. That would certainly be a nice feature. Every time I ask for that at Foreign Cars Italia, they NEVER tell me. UGH Thanks Dominick !!!!!!!
OKAY, so I reached out to Foxwell and they recommend this model, https://www.foxwelltool.com/wholesale/latest-nt530-multi-system-scanner-one-free-software-nt520-updated.html It’s one of the few you mentioned. If I have any issues with the AP200, I’ll give that a try !!!!! Thanks Again Men, Dominic
Highly recommend the AP2000 obd (bluetooth) tool. For 50 bucks, you can read and erase all codes. Just remember that when you install the software on your phone/tablet , you need to download the car profile, and it's a fairly big download (over 50Mb) . I recommend fast 4/5G or wifi if possible. I managed to troubleshoot my check engine light, being a faulty thermocouple in the cat converter causing the left bank to shut down, and report misfires on all cylinders. It will also read your clutch life. Here is an output. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks like you use your phone and pair the bluetooth first. Plug in the OBD2 module and turn on the ignition (no start) check phone BT pairing, code could be 000 or 1234 and then open the app.
So with my wife’s help, I got this readout. The only thing I’m not sure about is the “model” I’m supposed to pick. I picked Ferrari 430 (F131E) Not sure if it mattered ? Lots of faults & failures. UGH Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
You picked the right one .. print out the errora and clear them all .. see which ones return ..some errors are actually normal in the f430 Print clear drive re analyze Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
you actually need to drill into (go into the menu) of right and left bank engine and re-scan. It shows 1 and respectively 3 faults, we need to see what those are. Engine faults will keep the check engine light on. From this top level menu you don't see the detail. The screenshot I attached above was from actually entering the left bank engine and doing a scan.
Misfiring on cylinder 6 and then some others that appear (to me) related to battery disconnect. Should be a lot of threads about how to diagnose further/fix the misfire. Per the report details below the initial chart: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Okay. So I took it off the car. I’ll do it again tomorrow and try what you’re saying. I’ll probably have to bring it in for service anyway. It’s been almost a year I think. Time to check my receipts. Thank You Very Much !!!!!
The ECU reset is front trunk power off for a while (20 min? I forget maybe search) and then you startup and idle ten min (don't touch throttle just let it idle). Probably will clear the suspension faults but still might have bad coil or plug on cylinder 6. Worst case would be some upper or lower intake manifold gasket leak above 6.
I’ll turn it off for now. Then start over tomorrow. I’m having a rough day, so I need to be calm first. UGH THANK Y’ALL AGAIN !!!
You shouldn't stress too much. Maybe someone else can chime in but Porsche suspension warning lights need a few min on the road to disappear. One other thought: I think I need to imitate the TPMS re-learn on my 2005 when disconnecting the battery (button under left dash) but newer cars might auto learn.
