This colour belongs to Glasurit's tints used by Ferrari between 1981 and 1992

could anyone tell me if 300/11 is lighter or darker than 300/9...

I know they both fall under Rossa Corsa but have not been able to get color samples to compare.

    thank you again

I have asked the body shop manager at FOH who has been painting Ferrari's for many years about the differences in the FER 300 / 3/6/9/12 codes and here is a brief explanation. First of all each of the numbers do not get lighter or darker, but more orange is added as the numbers get higher. If you place an FER 300/9 car next to an FER 300/12 car there is not so much difference. However when you place an FER 300 car next to an FER 300/12 car, there is a noticeable difference in the colors on the two cars. 300/6 was introduced in 1985, 300/9 was introduced in 1988 and 300/12 was introduced in 1991. This explains why most US F-40's have FER 300/9 paint codes, since they were built after 1988, and later cars (some 1991's and 1992's) had FER 300/12. It would be interesting to post your manufacture month and year and the paint code to see when the changeover occurred. If there is really any logic in any of this!! Mine is February 1992.

Great post, thank you! Posting the assembly number might also be helpful as the assembly numbers for F40s were far ahead of other models of the same period.
