Does anyone know authoritively the differences between the road F40 and F40 LM engine and gearboxes.

Do they use the same pistons and cylinders ?

Is the gearbox the same or are the race F40LM's worlds apart from their road going brothers?

I am refering to the original LM'S rather than the later LM engines which I understand were increased in size to 3.4 and even 3.5 litres at the end of their race careers.

Interesting but does not deal with differences between standard engine/gearbox and the LM

Don't expect to find as many differences as you may think. From what I remember reading the stock engine was built pretty stout for the boost.
