HI all, The little warning light has just come on.......the warning light thats got a pic of a car with arrows pointing down beneath the wheels!!! Anyone know what sensors activate is this? ThZ.
I don't know the technical term for it but it's the suspension light. I've had mine go off before when the shock actuator doesn't cycle correctly. It could be something as simple as removing the actuator, making sure the gears are turning easily and don't have a lot of dirt in them and snapping them back on. My actuators have done this when I first take the car out in the spring after its been sitting for a couple of months. Once it gets a few miles on it the problem goes away. They're pretty easy to take off. They are the little device that sits on top of each shock with wiring coming out of them. There is a single spring clip near the base that holds them on. Simply get a straight blade screwdriver and pop the spring clip out and pull the actuator off. Keep your finger behind the spring clip so it doesn't fly away and disappear down into the engine bay. Inspect the gears to make sure the teeth aren't broken and it turns freely. Sometimes some dirt gets in there and can bind things up. Treat them gently and don't force things since they should move freely. If all looks well, simply put them back on, re-install the clip and see if the problem persists. You need to drive it a short distance to see if it resets. If that doesn't fix it then it probably makes sense to take it to a shop to have it hooked up to the computer to help diagnose which actuator is bad. Hope this helps.
Great post - Thanks! One comment though; you said: I would replace "engine bay" with "a momentary worm-hole in the fabric of space-time..." Cheers, Ian
Who would have thought a CEL/suspension question would be easier to get answered than "How do i get the valve caps off?.... Go figure!
As well as multiple switch on (engine start or key in position 2) without car movement. In that case the light will switch off by itself after few meters.
ThZ for your comments. Eric. btw,...can any one tell me where is multiple switch? .... i'm very new here. Sorry! thZ
Just to clarify, I was not talking about any particular switch, I just meant that if you turn the key in position 2, or start the engine, SEVERAL TIMES without any displacement of the car, this will switch on this light. In such a case, the light will go off by itself as soon as the car move.
I have started my 355 several times since changing the exhaust and convertors, but I have not driven nor moved it. Now the suspension light is coming on. Still it might be a good idea to check the actuator gears to see that all is free and clear.
I would recommend shutting the master kill swith to the OFF position for at least 5 minutes. Worked for me. If you do this remember. The ECU has to reset. This means letting the car idle for at least 10 minutes with all accessories turned off. Hope the does it.
