No, he will clean your clock unless there is 1,000lbs of lead in the rear hatch, so start loading it up when he is not looking. :)

But then if you win, and in your Ferrari no less, there will be a lot more convincing to do on your part come salary raise time :)

Think more HP at 400+ and a lot more torque with NOT a lot more weight. The C6 is pretty close with the previous C5 Z06 in performance. Now a base C5 would be a good race I think. Again, unless he can't drive worth crap, has bald tires, a slipping clutch, and the lead you added ...you will see 4 round chevy taillights, and that's bone stock.(lots of mods out for the vette that really wake them up, so if wants to run and brought it up, be even more aware of the assured defeat.)

You probably won't beat him in a straight line, but you will have more fun driving, and that is what ultimately counts.

Make him turn off the traction control and then he'll at least know how to drive to win. :D

What's so intriguing about drag racing a 2006 Corvette against a car that's 10 years older?

Ferrari's F1 cars have never been about drag racing, not sure why people expect their road cars to be stoplight racers.

Great post mate and right on the money. Ferraris are not drag cars. :p
I have a friend that wants to 'race' my 348 over the 1/4 mile because he think his car is faster. He owns a 3.5L V6 Mitsubishi Magna. Personally, I KNOW my 348 is faster, but I just cant seem to get through his thick meat head that I dont want to race his sh*tbox! I keep telling him that I dont want to waste my fuel actually. :D:D
You cannot compare really. My 348 is nearly 16yrs old, his Magna is 5yrs old. Waste of time! :)

you got that right.. your 355 is sexier, sounds better, and will get a million more looks than his C6. (and this is all coming from a big Corvette fan!)

you know, you would probably lose, but i dont think by much

Park um side by side, see which one gets more attention. Then go for the drag and just cruise, don't race, you will lose. However, when you own a Ferrari, you don't need to prove yourself. Guys with Corvette's have small .....
Oh, yea, I own both. Just ingnor that last statement.:)

You guys are right. Just so you know, I’m not an irresponsible type that would do a drag on the street.

    Tell him to race a 2006 F430.

AND, tell him you raced a 1988 Vette and spanked him.... if he says anything about the year of the Vette, point out what a moron he is.

Driving these cars is not about the drag race performance. My guess is that your 355 has an advantage in two places - a road course of compound "Esses" and scoring babe attention.

I agree. My Vette is making about 425hp, and will prolly spank my 92 348. I could have bought a new C6 with my 348 money, but I can buy a C6 five years from now for 1/2 the price. I love driving my Vette, but I bet driving my 348 will be close to sex. OK, maybe not that good. Damn I wish that car would hurry up and get here.

The C6 will be faster but I would rather have the 355.

I tell all the stoplight heroes that American cars are about 0-60, but Ferrari's are about 60-160 :)

And the problem with the C6 in that category is, ... ?

No, sorry the American road car has grown up and is a serious contender to our illustrious marque. However, you cannot buy the class, history and allure of a Ferrari without getting the real deal. You either have the passion or you don't. I've had lots of Vettes and I always longed to own a Ferrari, even one I knew was a step down in performance.

The C6 will most likely win 60 to 150mph also, lol. I know these cars well verse other cars. And as far as racing a 2006 F430, all he would need then is a C6 Z06 for a good run.

One of the instructors for us at VIR races a C5, owns a C6 Z06. As a Vette passed me on the track, he yelled "don't let it bother you at all! At the end of the day, you have a Ferrari!"

Has anyone done this before? I mean drag raced an F355 against a C6 Vette? I reckon the F355 is quite fast...

The 355 will hold it's own, IF you are willing to run it to 4500 and dump the clutch. Sorry, but the bragging rights are not worth it to me (though to be honest, the car should handle it fine. Dumping the clutch stresses the gearbox and drive shafts - and the rear tires - but these are not weak areas in the 355.)

Once you are rolling, an F1 box would be a big plus...

More relevant would be an '06 Vette against an '06 Fcar. Then again, Fcars are not intended for Santa Pod, and shine even better through the twisty bits.

actually thats one thing the Vette really kills at... 100-160.. at least the new Z06. I saw in the Car and Driver a while back when the Z06 was compared to the 911 turbo and the F430. They all were pretty close in the 0-60 and 1/4 mile, but once past that, the Vette left them both in the Dust.. but im going to say it again, i would take the 430 over the Vette ANY day! hahaha

Think of a Vette as a disposable lighter. It is cheap performance, easy to light 'em up, but after just a short period of time - they're junk.

    Want to argue that?

Okay, I can't recall the last time someone said, "Man, I DREAM of owning an 1989 Vette!" (last time I heard that was... 1989).
