Stig is not a man! He is the Stig. Some say he´s a woman and has a secret passion for violin music. All that we know is that he´s called the Stig. Perfect weather condition and all dry and warm track. No 355 on the board because no 355 was tested. I´m an everyday Ferrari driver.
Gary, pull the Kenworth Hair Dryers off the shelf. Its time we work up a proper gernade for Flyboy we spoke about building. I have most of the parts already laid out and the block on the stand. "When Excessive simply isnt enough".... the Kenarri would fill the bill! Think the Mig had an interesting exhaust plume? and what the heck is a stig?!
Stop the press.......If anybody could build a Ferrari that runs it's gotta be Uncle Jesse and Cooter! Bring it on....I'd love to have one! Dave, watch that you tube video I posted Stig is the name of the test driver on Top Gear...
355 is a sports car ie: made to go around corners not 1/4 mile drag racer a la Shelby gt500 . simple as that sdr
To the OP... just be glad you didn't race a Corvette Zo6. It would have been pretty ugly. I've lurked here a long while as a Zo6 owner whose always loved the 355's lines. I'm a bit worried about the lack of aftermarket F-car performance parts, and most of the maintenance seems silly for a car brand that's supposed to be the pinnacle when it comes to autos. Oh well... I'll most likely get one anyway, I have a habit of turning a car into twice what it was from the factory performance wise.... then moving on to another money pit. A 355 would be perfect when I'm ready for the next level of pain.
Ah the famous "Fast and the Furious" scene that forever stereotyped F355 spider owners as d@uche bags! At least the guy lowered his headlights for better aerodynamics during the "race".
I had a guy in an obviously modded Civic pull up to me at the stop light last night. We nodded at each other and he revv'd and took off. I did my normal routine from a light and smiled. At the end of the day, not wanting to sound elitist, I'm still in a Ferrari. I appreciate what this guy did to his car (and what others have done to their cars as well) because they are enthusiasts. I bought a Ferrari because it's a Ferrari. The smells, the noise, the way it looks etc. If I wanted to blow the doors off of cars and race, I'd have bought something else. No offense to the OP, but maybe you are in the Ferrari for the wrong reasons. Shrug.
My lil bros 3 series and nissan 370z is faster then my spider. So what, I didn't buy a decade plus old ferrari for speed, rather a bucket list check off Item. Enjoy your car & drive it how you intended to drive it before you bought the car, that will def put a smile on your face
Dude....chill...I have owned and tuned a VW....I'm willing to bet you that thing was SERIOUSLY tuned....and anyway...let that guy walk away and feel happy he beat a Ferrari....let him brag Bout it. At the end of the day....he drives a VW and you drive a Ferrari......nuff said.
I've had some minor welding done at a local shop frequented by the drifting crowd. I ogle what they cram in that engine space and they ogle my 348. Owner has a civic he claims throws 900hp to the wheels and to look at it, you'd never know. He built it for that very reason. Save the racing for a track. At the lights let the vw look like the idiot. Mobilized reply by David
+1. Racing on the streets is nuts. You have NO IDEA what you have next to you at speed....a 17 year old perhaps? <gulp> A grown adult with a family and reasonable bank account could see it all blown away in a moment.....s t u p i d...... Makes for some neat you tube videos though If you must race someone one....do it at a track...
What year GTI? yours is a '98?, his maybe a 2009? That's a lot of years. And his is cheaper to mod. Rule of thumb - someone wants to race, wave, smile, then wave goodbye. Better his car wrapped around a pole than yours. BTW: perhaps next time you pass sombody on the outside on a highway ramp it might be his tires squealing trying to hold on.
It is pointless to feel bad about this incident. You can make an outhouse go "faster than a Ferrari", but it will never be as good as a Ferrari. Until you look under the hood, you don't know what the other guy has. I had an old Nissan sleeper that could meet or beat just about anything on the road. We're talking $3k for the car & engine that was in it, total. But in no way would I ever say it was better than a Ferrari.
That´s totally true....the way I see it cars like Mustangs, VWs or any other modded ricers aren´t worthy enough to race a Ferrari whether they are faster or not on take-off so I never would even give any of these kids the satisfaction of racing them. Let´s face it, it´s a lose-lose situation. If you win, you´re a d*uche for racing a "lesser" car. If you lose, you go into full depression mode like the OP so it´s best to play safe and keep everyone wondering exactly how fast you can go.
Never underestimate a GTI. This is me in my Mk.VI catching a guy in an M3 and ruining his day. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-TEhPN2cJU[/ame]
I wouldnt count that as ruining his day though. Im guessing he was driving at 8/10s and you were driving at 9/10s. When you caught him he showed that he could pull away if he wanted to. You drove great but he wasnt flat out in the M3, just enjoying his day at the track.
