Just sold my 458 and F12 is on order as a 2015. July build hope to see in August but more likely in September. Went Red 10 the day after I completed my spec's on April 28th…..

As with each Ferrari I have ordered the excitement is better than the last.

Those who have one and had a 458 love to hear about the "change". Not sure I have enough Hay for all those "horses".

Simple question, big answer. What exactly do you want to know, the experience or the features?

Apparently, the rear parking camera is standard on the F12 (at least in the UK) while it is an option on the 458.

They are completely different offerings. Not really sure how you expect to compare them on paper or even by video. It really depends on why you would want to buy either one.

We traded our 458 for an F12.

What's standard vs. optional you can find out pretty easily, seems like Ferrari includes a lot/many of the "convenience" options that would be "optional" on 458 as "standard" on FF and F12 (eg. SatNav, Camera), others are still options on both (eg. AFS).

We loved the 458. The F12 is a different beast. The engine itself in that chassis is really something mind-boggling. The F12 turns and brakes as good as the 458, what you will feel is the difference between the razor-sharp response of the mid-engine 458 with it's lower CG and the slightly higher and slightly more body-roll feeling of the F12.

I would imagine your love of the local Aspen roads and the open top make the 458 Spider a perfect car for what you like. While we love to debate absolute performance here a lot, the F12 is also a bit more....practical?....the 458 you strap on, the F12 you get in and drive...

    I laugh when I say that the F12 makes the 458 seem....underpowered.

Excellent post and I thoroughly concur. All I would add is that there is an added maturity about the F12 which appeals to me and it has more of a presence. Added to the special soundtrack and the outrageous upper end acceleration which leaves a 458 gasping and for me there is no going back. Also it is far more comfortable for both passenger and driver, and having had Daytonas in each, no comparison.

The biggest non subtle difference is the smoothness and sound of the V12. Next is the big difference in driver sight view and sense of being back in the F12 and almost on the road in the 458.

Thanks for all the comparison between the two. Just sold my 458 in two days and now "Ferrari Less" for a few months until my F12 arrives.

    Keep the great information coming……...

I have a GT3 coming and was just on the phone today with the COO of Porsche North America. What a cluster ffffff. Looks like mine will not arrive until October or more likely November when the 2015's are out. I asked will it come with snow tires? My car was to arrive on 5/2/2014 but that was before the engines blew up.

The GT3 won the car of the year award except someone forgot to tell the judges no one in the world can drive them!!

Long story and many issues with Porsche Customer service. I don't recommend Porsche anymore. Not sure I will take the car.

They make Ferrari customer service to be the best in the world.

Yes, I have been following that huge mess by porsche. Luckily it happened before I ever got down to ordering one. Now I will wait till all the dust has settled and just may be consider a 991.2 gt3.

Whilst drifting and destroying 5 sets of tires in a day looks "fun"...it is not the fastest way around nor the most prudent. Fifth Gear seems to have a fettish about doing this and I quite frankly don't get it. But then nobody has given me a set of tires to destroy...let alone 5 sets IN A DAY.

Bottom line is if you have to do stuff like this to have fun driving the car I would just rather keep my 458 Spider...it is so much fun at legal speeds...especially with the top down. guess I am getting burned out on burn outs. :D

    but thats just me. ;)

I don't think its supposed to be about prudence! :)

Even if you don't intend to go to the track and do stuff like this (some of us do), videos like this tell me a lot about the car (assuming they're not too selectively edited). You can see here a level of sophistication and refinement in the Berlinetta's handling and you will not get in all too many of its competitors. I find that reassuring in a car like this that has enough power to get you into trouble very quickly.

    Plus its such good fun.

Have they figured out yet what was causing the fires in those cars?

Wow. Bad con rod screws (most people call them bolts but I suppose technically they are screws if they simply thread into the rod without a nut fastener) damage the cylinders enough to make them leak and cause a fire, but not otherwise grenade the engine? I wonder what the design flaw was? It's not like a con rod screw/bolt is a new concept. All cars have been recalled for engine replacement and some 400 cars remain unsold in the U.S. What a disaster!
