Driving down street at about 40 mph...codes starting flying like a chinese new years.... AVH ! "Go to dealer" Manettino failure e-diff failure (Dropped out of race into "wet" and auto mode..."limp home mode" max 30mph) then "e-diff recovery" turned off, restarted...then okay. 2 weeks later same thing, but did not correct with restarting. At Dealer's now... Anyone have similar, or seen/heard about similar? Thoughts much appreciated...Dealer says they are trying to sort through it, but don't have any answers yet.
Could be something as simple as a dying battery. My Quattroporte lit up like a Christmas tree when the battery was going low.
Car is ~3 months old, 2400 miles...and always on the tender when not being used....possible a faulty battery from factory...but i would think the dealer would have tested the battery. I searched here and only thing I came up with (which the dealer also said was a possibility) is brake switch.
That is correct. I've had several new cars in the past 3-4 years come with problem batteries- and thats from several marques. Not Ferrari actually. Its possible your battery is faulty or there could be really anything that is experiencing even the slightest problem. When the error codes happen they can cascade through the system. One member here reported how he had a brake sensor fail and that caused the whole car to freak out. I've had a parking sensor go bad on another Ferrari and that caused the entire range of message you saw. One time I had a slightly problem with the TFT screen cause all sorts of horrible error messages.... Finding the culprit could be a time consuming and frustrating process or it could be simple. Heres to hoping its the latter!
Thanks. The biggest problem is being out and about and it going into "limp home mode." Do you think if I get a simple code reader, and if it happens again, I could clear the codes myself and get mobile again? Thx
Unfortunately I can only answer: "maybe". When I've had problems like this, restarting the car often clears the issues. Only for them to come back at another inopportune time. Once it repeats the issue, my advice is to do just what you are doing and have the dealer resolve it.
Dealer just called...they are confident it is the Brake Light Switch...replaced and everything appears to be 100%. (They also sealed the thrird brake leak issue that F12s are known to have.) Happy days, my baby is coming back! Figured posting this sort of information may help one of you some day.
Do you have any official TSB style number or info on the leaking third brake light / water ingress? My dealer claims to have no knowledge of any F12 universal issue and claims not to be able to replicate the issue (liquid can clearly be heard trickling inside the tailgate when opened).
This is the thread you want, describes the situation and fix. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ff-f12/502414-f12-water-trapped-back-hatch.html
That thread does not describe the fix in sufficient detail and an FChat member is going to post a detailed repair to that thread so dealers can weigh-in and owners can be preventative.
My dealer went to that thread, reviewed the photos, and apparently fixed the problem. I haven't washed my car yet, so can't comment on effectiveness. Btw...in case anyone is wondering if related, the brake light switch is a completely separate issue.
Does anyone have the info that was in the link? Says it’s not found. I washed my car a week ago and commented on how I can hear water in the hatch when I unplugged the battery tender yesterday. 3 miles down the road, and I threw multiple codes and couldn’t go over 30.
On the rear hatch near the upper brake light rain water could get in. They had to seal it. There was actually a thread about it here on FChat IIRC. Edit: Here it is https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/f12-water-trapped-in-back-hatch.502414/
Not sure, they just said the “sealed it.” Maybe this will help? https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/f12-water-trapped-in-back-hatch.502414/
Mine is going back for the fourth time to try to fix this..... you would think they would know by now! Luckily no codes ... yet so fingers crossed. Hopefully it’s now sorted for you. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I mean on the issue of ediff light and car in limb mode at 30mph max. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
How did they fix the e-diff failure and manettino failure with limp mode max 30mph? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
They said it was related to the brake switch, but to be honest they weren’t very forthcoming with exact details.
