Ferrari were a bit late to the game with 4 wheel steering, can a standard F12 be retrofitted with the F12TDF rear wheel steering ?

    I would seriously doubt it

Everything is technically possible if cost is no object; but the F12 TdF was a serious work by Ferrari (not a mere body kit and engine tuning as we've seen for other VS ;) ) so I doubt the transformation would be easy.
It's certainly less expensive to buy a used 812 than to transform an F12, which may be less expensive than buying a TdF but still hardly making sense.

It would cost more than just purchasing a used F12 Tdf to engineer a 4 wheel steering retrofit for an F12. I doubt that you could find anyone that would be willing to even try.

Actually, I may have been too hasty in this response.

For proper clearances with larger front wheels and rear steering, you'll need to convert to Tdf front fenders and rear quarter panels. In order for those panels to fit, you'll basically need to re-skin the entire car, as the ONLY panels shared between F12 and Tdf are roof panels. Partial list (major components only):

Net, would be easier to just trade your F12 on a Tdf.

Good work. My F12 steers with the right foot so modification not required. :)

Or trade for 812 which has friendlier handling.

Sorry, looks and tradition matter! Also prefer the more 'unfriendly' F12.

Not sure how serious the initial idea was (?). I think this makes no sense. Leaving aside the likely very substantial cost and hassle of making this conversion, I would not feel comfortable that this retro fitted system works exactly as designed. You might find out the hard way that it doesn't.

Lol. This is what I thought too. Want to decrease wheelbase? Just give it a bootfull:)

The irony is the F12tdf RWS is used to increase wheelbase. It only steers in phase with the fronts (same direction). This was done because they added so much grip to the front end, they needed a way to increase stability. So even though they call it virtual short wheel base, in reality it is a virtual long wheelbase.

Yes indeed. The story told before release, not sure if true, was that they started by putting the rears on the fronts and found so much grip that the rear stepped out uncontrollably. They ended up with rear steer and easing up on the front width as the final combo. The story goes that being a numbered VS they wanted it to be a challenge to drive spiritedly so the calibration for the RWS was intentionally left edgy. This was toned down in the 812sf as predicted resulting in very fine and accurate handling. Ferrari can and does make the best package.
