I have just ordered a new Ferrari F12. I was wondering if it would be worth it to add any carbon fiber options in the exterior? Also if I don't order the color upon request in the interior, is it just black as standard? First time owning a Ferrari, want to switch it up after owning a SLS and Aventador.

    Thank You!

I don't know what it is worth but I am finalizing my order Monday and am thinking of doing some outside carbon fiber the front spoiler and sills .. pretty expensive but I think it would look good..

Depends on the look you are going for and what colour you are picking.

So if I pick rosso as my interior, what will not be red in my interior?

Ferraris are more complicated than that they are truly custom so you really have to pick everything individually if you just pick rosso as the interior color without picking it for each of the other components of the interior you will have rosso with a lot of black try going on the factory configurator available at ferrari.com and play with it you will see that if you won't one color throughout the interior you will need to make many selections. If you go black interior then just picking black once will do it as black is standard.. be very careful your dealer will be helpful in this regard..

Larry, this is just my view, my F12 is completed and latest I heard it is on the boat. I did not go with any exterior carbon fiber. This is my 4th Ferrari none of which I added any exterior carbon fiber.

My main reason, I can't see it when I drive. I really would have to bend down to see the carbon fiber if it was in my garage (Front spoiler and the rear diffuser) . Same reason I did not order any carbon fiber for the engine bay. Just my view. It is very expensive for something you can't see. The interior is a different story.

One other point on the front spoiler. If you damage it and its carbon fiber it is very costly.

I strongly suggest you get the lift on the F12. It is much lower than my 458 was.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks I will add the lifter I was not going to get that so on your advice I will add it .. thanks still not fully decided on the carbon but will have to finalize it tomorrow so I think the price of the exterior carbon will discourage me..
Regarding the interior I like the alum trim on the inside so that is what I am thinking may keep alum except must have the carbon led steering wheel.....

I also have in incoming F12 and I deliberately did not order external carbon fibre (although, I do like the look of it). I heard that external carbon fibre chips easily from road debris, etc and I knew it would drive me nuts to see chips on the spoiler, sills or diffuser. I ordered sports sills (black) instead to carry the lower black colour through the sides of the car.

Good luck with your decision. Its amazing to be able to get one of these machines customized to your own liking.

Larry, one other thing to really consider is the seat lifter if you are getting the racing seats. The reason, the seats sit lower than the 458 did with racing seats.

Someone told me the day after my car went Red 10 but was able to get that option added. Of course if you are not getting racing seats no worries.

On the seat lifter for some reason is only applies to the drive and not the passenger.

Best of luck. You will get pictures from Ferrari as your car is being produced. Pretty cool.

I have basically finalized my final car. Just a couple more questions before I head to the showroom. Is the AFS system helpful? Also, how much will a paint like Bianco Fuji or Rosso Maranello cost?

    This is what I ordered:

    Special Paint
    Carbon fiber Racing Seats
Cruse control (standard on the car - I never use)
Innout electric mirror + home link (standard)
    Sport sill cover in black
AFS system - it does make a difference
    Grey Silverstone Calipers
Carbon Fiber drive zone + Led
    Carbon Fiber Central Bridge
Carbon Fiber cup holder (crazy price but fits with the other carbon)
Leather and Alcantara (DAAL) Leather is black, Alcantara is charcoal
    Carbon Fiber Dashboard inserts
Suspension lifter - a must as car is much lower than 458
    Horse stitched on headrest
    Outer Mirror black insert
Heat insulating glass - with dark interior this really helps. Had it on my 458
    Shields
parking camera (hard to see out of the mirrors the back of the car)
painted inner insert color of exterior of car
White Rev counter (of course I picked the one color you have to pay for)
    20' Forged diamond wheels
    Special stitching in Burgundy

    I think that is everything.

Best of luck and any other questions just ask.

I sold the 458 about a month ago. It sat on the dealer floor for 2 days and gone.

The special color is Rubino Micalazato and my car can be seen on the f12 picture thread. It is a picture of my car completed at the factory. My car is on the water!

    Thanks.

Any idea how to track our cars over the water? My F12 completed early June and, of course, I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival.

Depending on color the paint can cost from $15-30k.

All the color choices, and as with CF, are really an individual choice- there's no right or wrong. Do what makes you happiest. In terms of worth it, if you mean will you get your money back on resale- the answer is almost always no you wont. But you are not really building a Ferrari for the next guy (or gal)- are you? No. Get what you want.

Totally agree, specing out a Ferrari is so rare, that I think you should get what you want and not worry about it. At the price point, what difference does any of it make?

I agree with your viewpoint- but there are many who order a car with the minimal options in an easy to sell on specification so they can be in and out of the car with as small a financial hit as possible. I think everyone's situation is different so I don't want to criticize people who play it this way because I understand at the end of the day money is important. I think its important to understand that as you customize the car more and more, the odds are you'll get less and less of that extra content price back on resale.
