Most obvious difference between the F119D (TB/TS) engine and the later F119H (GTB/GTS) is no doubt the taller plenum with the five 'ribs' flowing into two rather than continuing along.

I've spotted this taller plenum for sale and was wondering if I could just buy it and fit it to my '93 TB (with F119D engine). I'm not particularly looking for a performance gain, I just really like the look of it.

I've looked at the parts diagrams and everything else seems to be pretty much the same. Or am I missing something? And if it fits, would the engine require a remap or will the ECU automatically adjust?

Leave it stock, I wouldn't mess with it to be honest.......no advantage to putting one on, and also messes with the originality as well.
Not sure how you would "re-amp" a Motronic ECU, the only real way to "re-map" the engine properly is to fit an aftermarket ECU......the poor old Motronics are such old technology now....

Yes, if it would mean fitting an aftermaket ECU or anything that would be a no go. As for originality, I would of course keep the original plenum so I can always switch it back. And if you would be very serious about originality, then my 348 is not going to win that contest, because just like many, many others the lower parts of the bumpers and side skirts have been painted in the car's colour.

Well you could run it with the standard ECU, but as I learned from my race car days and engine tuning, every time you mess with exhausts, intakes, and such, even cam timing, you should really do a dyno run and check your AFR, it will change the tune messing with these things.....
Who knows it might run just fine, I'd be putting on a dyno with a knowledgeable engine tuner?

I believe the differences with the F119H were higher compression ratio, different cam timing, 2.7 motronic, Plenums (as you know), I would venture to say they may have even used different fuel injectors, different fuel pressure regulators too.....
    There may be other differences....

The later 348's were apparently all one colour, mine is like this as its a November 1992 car.

But I get your point of view, mine is not stock standard either, different exhaust, different air intake system, different wheels.....But it the way I like it so thats the main thing...

It would be interesting to see the differences, intake runner lengths as well.
