Meaning Lewis doesn't deserve that seat in that car.... If so I'd be interested to know why you think that is the case. And as Mr Japlmito liked the statement I'd be keen to know his reasons also.
First real test against Bottas will be the qualifying session tomorrow. Until then we must remain careful about the hierarchy between the two pilots.
True...Bottas actually was faster by .4 secs in the session but had two (three?) faster times deleted due to exceeding the track limits at Turn 8. Wait until tomorrow before burying Valtierri, yes.
I think he's referring to VB's deleted times. Russell tops FP2 but didn't have the top time. It's all practice anyway...Q1 is when things will start to really become clear, but Russell looks very composed and mature behind the Merc wheel so far.
The funny thing about a half-shaft is that it is actually a full shaft but there are 2 of them one on the left and one on the right !!!
I think they should consider following IndyCar's procedure and split Q1 into two sessions for 10 cars each. 20 cars on that track is going to look like rush hour! Have one session for the 10 slower cars and one for the 10 faster cars, perhaps based on the times in FP3. Once they cut it down to 15 cars for Q2 they can all run together.
Alternately, they could mandate an out-lap within 10 seconds of your qualifying lap OR the lap gets DELETED as another remedy.
Don;t think you need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. Also, Bottas is a below mediocre driver. Can you imagine the combination of max/checo in that car..
Imagine what George can do once he feels more comfortable in the car .We will see the true potential in qualy but no reason to doubt so far that he is more than capable of Pole .
Keep in mind....George is having to wear a shoe 1 size smaller and it’s uncomfortable plus his shoulders are cramped and not the perfect fit in the car. If anyone has done any track driving will know, being comfortable with proper seat and set up really helps.
