F1 2012

Well this might help me decide where to sit for the race.

 

It looks similar but they haven't released much yet so we'll see. Having said that I'll probably buy it anyway.

 

Hope they get rid of the steering lag that made the game impossible for me to enjoy.

Once I get faster internet (or move to south africa...which ever comes first, haha!) I'll just join Iracing and online Rfactor 2...

 

I had a chance to see the COTA demo this weekend at the F1 EXPO in Austin, looks impressive but didn't have a chance to play it.

I'm looking forward to this game now, it looks like F1 2012 is the biggest leap forward in terms of game play from the previous games. Now just got to find time to play it between this and Forza Horizon.

Make us pay, say 25 usd for it. It'll give us the update, reworked physics, new cars & tracks, and could integrate the 2011 and 2012 season (and perhaps, the 2010).

Maybe well see this for the 2014 game. 5 seasons, starting in 2010 on towards 2014...

The game is buggy as Hell, the screen flashes uncontrollably & freezing up during gameplay. How could someone release a game like this with so many detrimental issues? I'll set up a video later to prove my frustations.

Just picked up the Xbox 360 versions...no problems so far. Did e new drivers academy and ran some laps at Singapore. Seems a tad smoother than 2011 (steering) but no huge improvements thus far...new cars and COTA are the main pick ups.

 

Just curious... have you noticed any other games doing that? Looks like your PS3 may be dying or at least over heating. Looks like video card/processor issues to me. This game is very power intensive and could be showing some cracks in your PS3's armor... how old is it?

A lot of the scenery is loaded to the hard drive. A hard drive not keeping up to speed will act like that with video (see at happen at least once or twice a year at the office).

 

Wow...I haven't had any issues like that. Maybe a bad copy?

Note: i had an immediate update to the game when I first loaded it. Maybe a correction?

 

COTA seems very Tilke-ish...fun mix of high speed corners, elevation changes and long straights.

It's almost like he used Spa as his model though...reminded me of coursing around there.

 

I did get the system back in 2008, it's a 60 gig unit with not a lot saved on the HD. No other issues with other games like Gran Turismo 5, DIRT 3, GTA IV, Duke Nukem. etc... I really hope it's not my PS3, it doesn't feel hot or that it's overheating. I'm still budgeting for a new wheel.

 

I have a 60GB first gen as well... a year or so ago it started acting like yours on GT5. I ended up taking it apart and removing the fur sweater of dust that had been sucked into it over the years... runs like a champ now. At the very least, try to vacuum all the vents and open all of the doors on it and suck out the dust. I was shocked as to how much was in there.

Ok, I performed a fan test, vacum the dust out & I'm still having the same issue. I'm going to try to get another copy in the morning. If that doesn't work I might have to invest in a new PS3.

 

You may want to just try reinstalling it as well.

I went through the new driver training last night and did some exploratory laps of COTA. I usually try to drive these games in cockpit view, but this year's seems like it sits lower in the car and it's really hard to see your apexes on slow speed corners. I may break down and start driving on the t-bar.
