Exterior Carbon in Matte or Glossy

I am in the exact same position.

I had a test in an AF296GTS and the door cards were matte carbon but all other interior carbon was gloss. Very odd.

Is the matte carbon a premium cost over the gloss?

I'll PPF the exterior carbon. Is there a PPF that turns gloss to matte, I wonder.

 

There is a PPF that turns gloss to Matte. I have it on my Tesla for the entire exterior paint. I will upload pics later today.

 

Hi, I am thinking about the exterior carbon fibre too. I can give you an idea, what it looks like with my former McLaren 650S Spider. I turned gloss cf in matte cf and it looked great (IMHO)

So, I would go the cheaper way with glossy CF. You will certainly want to protect your ext. CF - but this time not with a glossy PPF but a matte PPF. The good think is, you can switch as often as you want to. The difference in price (matte vs glossy PPF) is a small fraction of the extra you pay for matte CF from Maranello.

The 296 AF door cards are matte. How would the matte PPF work on the interior carbon, I wonder?

 

PPF is much more difficult to install than normal colored films as they are much thicker and won't cover small curves very good. I could imagine that the middle tunnel might be possible to do with PPF, I think the racing seats could be a problem. Have you seen how they do PPF on a car ? Maybe this answers the question because they use A LOT OF fluids sprayed on the surface, I guess inside the car this could cause damage.

I don't like satin paint either. But the 296 ist a very "round" car, soft curves. To give the car a little more profile it could be nice not to have a glossy paint and glossy CF. But - we are all very lucky - taste differs and that is great, isn't it ?

Would like to reactivate this thread. Has anybody meanwhile a 296GTB/GTS with matte exterior CF (wheather originally or via PPF) and would share some photos ?

 

I watched the F1 race last week and they had a close up camera shot of the Ferrari F1 car showing the matte carbon in the cockpit. I thought it looked incredibly good and it looks identical to the matte carbon in the 296.

 

Verde Francesca with Matte green carbon for my GTS and Aluminium and glossy blue carbon on my Superfast. Both cars have matte carbon interiors so no glare and softens the look of the carbon:
