My '08 F430's Engine Bay Lid moves up and down approx. 3/8" when latched.
I doubt this is normal operation and I occasionally hear rattles in the back at certain RPMs.

I checked the lid on a F430 parked near mine and it's rear lid has no play at all.

Has anyone ever had this issue?
Is there any way to adjust the locking mechanism to take out this 3/8" of play?

I googled and no luck on finding any info on adjustment.
I appreciate any input from the community.

    Thanks!
    Pete

I can confirm for sure that is not normal. Mine closes and doesn’t move a centimeter. Do you have a good Indy mechanic that can check it out?

There is a slight side to side adjustment on the striker itself, also adjustment plates that you can remove and add.

I will also add, make sure that all the locking mechanisms are tight, might not be an adjustment issue.

    Thanks for the reply.
I do have a good Indy Svc facility (Radcliffe Motors) and I'm planning to bring car in next month for it's annual service.

I was hoping to take of this myself if it was an easy fix.
If not, I will have Radcliffe take a look and address during the annual.

    Thank you.

I found this diagram as well and used it to make sure all parts were present.
    (ie. Vibration Dampers...)

Note: I confirmed my car does not have any adjustment plates installed between lid and striker plate.
To my eye the adjustment plates would make the gap even bigger.

    Thanks.
Everything does appear to be tight.

    Appreciate the feedback

Those rubber dampers (20 in the diagram) will also thread in and out.

    That may help!
If I can extend those out 3/8" it might just solve my problem.

Will give that a try tomorrow and report back.

    Thanks RedNeck!
