Hello, I can tell you with confidence that the best of all Excaliburs to own are 1977 thru 1979 Series III's. There is no weak link in these cars.

My father played a major role in the beginning and retail end of Excalibur Automobile's.
He, Jerry Allen was first dealer in 1965 and owned Allen Motorcar Corp. in FT. Lauderdale untill 1982. I grew up on Excaliburs.

Series I's drive like old Cobra's. Must be on your toe's when operating.

Series II's where a metamorphisis stage and drove like a Jeepster. (Which Brooke Stevens designed also.)

Series III's are on hand made 5 cross menber boxed steel frame's with 454 LS-4's
    and Turbo 400 Transmission.
    Corvette rear.
    Camaro A-Frame front end.
    Corvette 4 whell disc's.
    Frigking A/C
    Great accleration, handling and braking.
Weak leak? Keeping as clean and polished as it deserves. A lot of nooks and cranies.
tell me about the one your looking at and I will be glad to help in any way.

    Grant Allen.

Thanks for the feedback and help. I looked at one about 2 weeks ago. it had sat for many years, the inerior was good-great. But there was alot of pitting on the metal bits, the brakes had new disks and calipers but calipers were not coated so rusting already. The metal on the bottom had light surface rust and there were various nicks, plus alot of the elctrical did not work. Car ran well but motor looked aweful/

So basicaly a decent running car, which woudl take a lot of work to make really great. Of course it had low mileage and thye wanted close to 30k for it. oh yes the top was shot and the side curtains were of indetirminate condition. To my mind it would have taken over 10k to make really nice.

Fun to drive though and the car felt very very solid and tight.

    the search continues.
