The New Lamborghini Huracan Evo has Two Cameras and One Problem

If you have OCD, look away!

The latest version of the now iconic Lamborghini Huracán, the Huracán EVO, is by all accounts a very great car. Naturally, it improves on the original design and it adapts much of its technology from the special edition Performante that came before it. It is faster, louder, and looks meaner- what's not to like? Well here's one thing- the interior camera(s) is not quite centered in the cabin.

Yes, this is a trivial issue, yet for a car that is so beautiful and symmetrical, why would Lamborghini not center the camera between the seats? The speaker below it is clearly centered, and this just enhances the off-centered position of camera even further! Now, there is clearly a reason for this, namely that the camera is focused on the steering wheel. So it is necessary for the camera to face a particular direction, yet that does not fully explain the placement of the camera housing.

To be fair, the second camera (behind the rear-view mirror) is also not centered. And this is common for dash cams and various other car cameras. But this is not a regular car, and this is not a dash cam. The cameras, as noted in the video, are for recording driver performance at the race track, and there is no reason to doubt their ability to achieve this goal. But there is still no evidence that the cameras necessarily have to be off center. At least the front camera is fairly hidden behind the mirror!

Now, surely the people of Lamborghini know what they are doing, and it is definitely foolish to question them and even bring up this seemingly insignificant feature of the cameras, but what if there was a way to have your cake and eat it, too? Taking into account the angle at which the cameras are meant to face, could they not achieve this within a housing that is centered? In other words, the housing would not be off-center, but the camera within it would be. This would go a long way in terms of overall design quality, because as it stands now, the cameras seem out of place and call into question whether or not they are aftermarket. A more cohesive and symmetrical design would communicate greater attention to detail, seeming more OEM. And it would, of course, please many potential buyers that have OCD.
