Last week I ordered four decals, and the lock and key for the glovebox from Eurospares. I've been thinking about ordering these decals for a while, but it makes no sense because the shipping would be way more than the decals themselves. So finally after reading this thread:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=318418

I say, oh something I can order from them. Normally I use Daniel at Ricambi.

Well, it says on the site that the lock and key will be special order. I even get an e-mail confirmign my order, and there it is:

    1 Special Order Item No. 64983600 123.49 123.49
    New Ferrari 355 (5.2 Motronic)
    COMPLETE LOCK WITH KEYS -

So the other day UPS shows up, charges me a $10 brokerage fee. They hands me over this very thin package. Guess what, it's the four decals from Eurospares. A note says the lock and key are no longer available. So do they e-mail me? Nope. They simply charge me almost $100 to get four decals to my door.

So in my amazement at the complete lack of effort on their part, and the fact that over 90% of the value of my order is not even attempted to be filled, I send them an e-mail expressing my disappointment. I get a one liner, the lock and key are not available.

So out of curiousity, I take a look at their site:

    http://www.eurospares.co.uk/searchResult.asp?find=&M=&Mo=&A=&B=&S=64983600

Guess what, according to their site, not only is it not special order anymore, it's available! Yeah, right.

But it gets better, I see if it will let me order the part again. I went right to the end, but did not put my credit card in. It was going to let me order it again.

I will never ever use them again. I will make it my mission on this forum when I see someone even suggesting them to tell my story again and again.

they've done the exact same thing to me on several occasions...which is why they lost my business (approximately $ 100K annually).

Nothing the English do surprises me anymore. Owning countless English cars and shipping containers at one point from England, I learned that buying anything from England is a one shot deal(in their minds). Whatever it takes to get it across the pond then- no customer service, and no concern for another sale -they get your money and you get SCREWED. Sorry for your misfortune.

ALWAYS email Claudio first- Ask him if the part #' s are in stock- he always replies promptly.

That's just the they are- but he has stuff that Daniel does not want to bother with.

Don't think that's entirely fair. You will find plenty of recommendations & stories of great service from the likes of Superformance & QV etc. All vendors screw up occasionally, what matters is what they do about it afterwards.

The story related above and the way it was dealt with is not unique though & its why a lot of people don't bother with Eurospares. I had the same thing happen to me more or less some years ago & it wasn't over that much money. I've never bought anything from them since.

I've recently spent a 4 figure sum on parts and they didn't get any of it. That's all you can do in the future.

I've had really good transactions with Superformance! They are more attentive to customer service. Sometimes Eurospares has stuff that I just can't get anywhere else so I make a habit of calling to verify. I too have had poor customer service at Eurospares. Yes I ordered the wrong part but when I called to try an exchange for the correct part I got attitude. In my opinion a 348 timing belt cover would have been an easy part to re-sell but they did not care. In the end I just shelled out another $500 US and have an extra piece of plastic with pretty yellow packaging.

They won't even reply to my e-mails now.

Daniel is great. As I said, I normally order items from him. I am spending close to $20,000 this year alone on my car, and with the sad exception of this $100 Eurospares got from me, I'll never give them a dime again.

It's about customer service. When Eurospares was aware I was unhappy I was told too bad. You'd think they would have the decency at least to remove items they know they no longer can get. Instead they not only leave them on, but they edit them from special order to quoting the part number, the price, and allowing you to enter an order. It's just bizarre.

I am not trying to badmouth, but I assume you ordered through a credit card? Dispute the item, since you did not get what you paid for. I would. I don't think stickers are worth $100.00. They could have at least emailed you. It certainly did not cost them $100.00 to send a very thin envelope to mail to you from overseas. just my 2 cents. Credit cards are setup to protect you against fraud.

+1 on the back charge! I don't know of anyone who would agree that $100 shipping for 4 decals is reasonable unless Jennifer Love Hewett is delivering them naked!

Where is that JLH naked option on the UPS site? I must have an old version of the software. All I see is an option for a topless Joan Rivers. :D

I blame it all on Daniel. He has spoiled us so badly with his level of competence and customer service everything/everybody else, in comparison, such plain sucks..... :)

I also ordered from Eurospares and they delivered only part of the order without telling me. The parts they delivered were no use without the ones they did not supply! I got a refund from them with no problems.
Best bet is to find the part numbers then order from Maranello UK, no such problems with them.

I have never considered using anyone other than Ricambi.

I have a piece of mind when using Ricambi, plus the outstanding technical support that he offers, on his time, without charging a penny, is priceless.

I will continue to support Daniel.

Contrary to Some of the other posts, I wrote to Eurospares and did indeed get a near immediate reply asking me to send a list of what I wanted which I duly did and then never got any further reply. Actually the story gets worse, but I shalln't bore everone with the details. Suffice to say I won't waste my time with Eurospares again, I go out of my way to dissuade friends from using them. There are a gazillion places to buy F. spares, mostly cheaper, and these careless people don't deserve my business.

That Lucas parts joke is about thirty years out of date!! Although it probably doesn't seem that way if you have a Triumph Stag.
I think the "Lucas" name was bought by a Far Eastern company as I still see the name, but the factory has gone.

I ordered one from Eurospares & I got an email telling me that it was no longer available & they credited my card back...it seems they are not that well thought of, and I must admit after reading this thread I went back to the website & the item is showing as available. That appears totally ridiculous to me, surely the status should of been changed immediatley to not available, tends to show a lack of interest to me, something which you americans are absolutley spot on about over here in the UK, it is so hard to find people that 'care' anymore. Unfortunately it seems a very pleasent surprise when you find good customer service nowadays, whereby it should be the norm. Its most odd to me as peoples business's must suffer for it.
I am english, but spend a bit of time in the states and indeed buy many high value items from the states, and yes customer care & service IMHO in the US is simply miles ahead where we are in the UK..you sent us across Mcdonalds & burger king, so perhaps along the way some of the american service culture may pop over the pond..heres hoping
Anyway moving on, its ok coming up with other Companies, Ricambi etc, but I cannot find any mention of the glovebox lock on any other parts companies...so back to that, anyone found a lock in stock anywhere?

Personally, I think it would be very difficult to find anyone that has the level of customer service Daniel has established at Ricambi...

He always goes above and beyond...

Actually Colin of Superformance.co.uk is a great guy to work with. Maranello Concessionaires is also not bad. As for Eurospares, it helps a lot if you email Claudio personally. So UK isn't all that bad, just about all my parts come from there as I fly to London often. As for Ricambi, wait till LAX becomes my home away from home and I'll be a regular there!

And Superformance will also try to get you stuff not listed on their website. Just ask them. They are my preferred parts supplier for good reason.

I was beating up on Eurospares. Not the UK.

I have an MGB, and I find UK MG Retailers pretty good.

Yes, Lucas is the Prince of Darkness :)

Eurospares on the other hand. Can you believe them. They know the part is no longer available. So they change it from special order, and now it gives you the impression itis actually in stock. Unreal.
