Anyone in Canada install Eramosa for their walkway, steps or pool area at their home? Any feedback on how it handles Canadian weather? Need to make a decision if this is better than Banas flagstone. Anyone ?
Hi Big Red...i just made the same choice and have 600 square feet of Eramosa sitting in the yard waiting to be laid. I think the quality of the Banas stone varies so it depends on which one you choose... I chose the Eramosa because of looks and the fact that it is an Ontario stone which i had used to build some garden walls, which are doing fine after eight years. Either stone is beautiful just be sure to have a good well drained base and a slight slope to keep water from pooling on the stone... Good luck!
Thank you, when we got to the garden center the individual said we should be looking at Eramosa. I haven't heard about this until he mentioned it. You are correct that the Banas stone had variations, when he dropped water on the stones we were suprised at the change. The Eramosa looked so much better. We went back this morning, and my wife decided the extra was worth it for the Eramosa. I'm expecting delivery Tuesday. I will snap a pic of the before and after and post in a few days. I would love to see your project before and after as well. Good luck on your install ! And thank you for making me feel better about my purchase this morning.
Delivery arrived late in the day yesterday , a few broken pieces in the box. Installer working out the new pieces, and installing today .... Will post up later tonight pictures of the first run. Very pretty looking rock for sure now that I see it. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Awesome colour, not as bland. We moved 2.5 tons of rocks on the weekend, now moving it again into the pond. Heavy work but good weather for it.
Wet the stone and see how you like it's appearance when it is wet. If you do... try sealing a sample with a high quality breathable sealer and see if you like it...if you do, then seal it completely (before grouting the joints). You will need to re-seal it every few years to maintain that appearance. Many types of stone will lighten with exposure the weather but sealing it will prolong its deep "wet" appearance for a while. Luckily the Eramosa has a lot of character that won't be lost to the weather no matter what way you go...
The eramosa stone is prone to Spaulding or shaling from exposure to freezing. Beautiful stone texture but lots of maintenance required to replace damaged stone after a few seasons of winter.
I know what your talking about, I asked about that between the stones. The one you are talking about is the "flamed" version of the stone. We got the "sandfinished" one. Their is no real texture on this one, it's straight stone with the veins within the actual rock. I haven't decided if I want to seal it. It's apparently option. Not sure I like the wet look on it. The natural flat color is looking better to me ( for now ) Image Unavailable, Please Login
