Anyone have any pics of Mr.Ferraris office? Excerpts from Laudas book in R&T '78 "When I wanted to talk to him I knocked on his door and went in, whereas even for his closest colleagues the ritual was to ask for an interview. The show was a bit terrifying, I must admit: the empty room painted dark blue, the great portrait of his dead son, usually with candles burning in front of it and at the table the aged President. If you feel upset by all this, you feel more upset still on the way out, impressed by so much grandeur. If you talk to him properly, all goes normally; the Old Man is not only a personality, but also a good and kindly man, who lives up to his great reputation."
This desk is supposed to be a copy of a desk from Mr. Ferrari's office. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That image of Ferrari is one of the best I've seen. As always, he's indoors and wearing his sunglasses. I've never seen the guy laughing as hard as he is. And what's with the bottle of champange or wine? Is Lauda (?) just in a general celebratory mood? Awesome, -F
The Fifth Gear episode with the story about Frank Mountain picking up his F2001 had quite a few scenes shot in Enzo's office.
If I can find the cd at home with photos from Maranello - we have a few photos from the Galleria as they show Enzo's desk to have been. Carol
This is a photo I took of Enzo's office at the Ferrari museum, so hopefully it is authentic, there is a large plastic panel that closes it off from visitors. I was interested to see how the visitor chairs look so much less comfortable than Enzo's, but from what I have heard about his character it looks right. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Over the years I sent him birthday presents and he sent me 3 notes and 2 autographed pictures and a memorial card when he passed. He always signed in purple ink and like it has been discussed here before the flair felt tip pens he used to use fade after time and the first photo I have the signataure is barely visible now. It is not because of light it just fades away. I read that some have letters from him about the delivery of thier car back in the days and his sig has completely disappeared! He was always a complex man and must have seen ebay coming! You can see the other photo in my livingroom shrine pic middle top right Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
that's a nice shrine you have there, and you're lucky to have actually corresponded with this great man!
OK, here we go..... DIGMAN52 : copy of original desk : with Maserati signs on Enzo's desk ???????? FURMANO : please don't say Lauda, when it is Gilles Villeneuve............ JKNIGHT : OK The only original copy form Enzo's desk, is in the Galleria, with an original item from one of my friends over her in Belgium, still inside today.
The Maserati thing is just on top of the desk. The owner was getting ready to move the collection, and that is why all the stuff was there. It is a copy of a desk he told me Enzo owned, just don't know where he saw it to make the copy. This guy has a huge collection including a '59 Testarossa, so I don't discount what he tells me.
here is another picture showing the replica of Enzo Ferrari's office with his desk. (barchetta.cc) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Apparently he wore the dark glasses after his son's death from muscular dystrophy in remembrance...for the rest of his life.
I always thought it was so cool, that Enzo had a big plasma display hanging on the wall back in the eighties. The man was clearly way ahead of his time.
If my memory of my visit to the Museum is correct, that plasma display is part of the interpretive exhibit, not his office.
It is hung above the desk in the mockup of his office. A *VERY* bad place for it regardless. I was quite disappointed when I saw it, because it really ruins the illusion.
It's a back lit photo, kinda like a x-ray film illuminator.....it doesn't move around as much a plasma TV would......... He did like Gilles among his list of famous drivers, see Piloti Che Gente. That's a COPY Of the desk, ya'll!!!!!! Actually I think BOTH desks are COPIES!!
Since my earlier post I have been to Marranello and the Museum and the table with the car models under glass was displayed, but not in the office display. Here are a couple of pics. The "office" in the museum is I think a relica of the office that was at the old Scuderia at Viale Trento e Trieste. One would imagine that he also had offices at the factory and also at Fiorano. FWIW
I thought he had those yellow tiles on his wall? Wasn't that the story of those yellow tiles that pop up once and a while for sale? Where were those located originally? (sorry to bump an old thread)
