Sorry for a dumb question and I have searched and searched. I've done this on other cars but this Becker in my 456M is responding differently. After using the battery disconnect- when I hit the power button on the radio, it reads "CODE". I then enter the 4 digit code on my original Becker Code Card (also has the s/n) and press the star * key.

Nothing- the first digit just blinks with an underline.

I know I'm daft but I can't find any documentation on how to reset this... (Terry probably has pictures...)

    Any help is appreciated.

I have never done anything more than just hitting the 4 code numbers. After that it should go straight to whereever it was last used. Sounds like you have the wrong code.

If you did it incorrectly more than 3 or 4 times it needs to be on for an hour or so before it will accept a code.

Thanks Brian- I may have entered it 3 times but with the * button after, so I'll wait after running an hour and try again.

Just to close the thread- I did have the right code. But after it failing another time I broke down and went thru my documentation (again) and this time found the original Ferrari booklet which explains the reset process. Basically after entering the 4 digit code, you must press the scan-seek button (the down arrow on the right-most button). If you fat finger it more than 3 times, you have to wait 10 minutes before trying again.

I guess they're all a bit different. Thanks.

Interesting because I just recoded a 550 a few minutes ago and all I did was push the 4 buttons. It is the only method I recall ever doing.

Not a big deal- but leave it to me to find the strange one... It's the original BE2372V because I have the Ferrari red booklet warranty, owner's manual and the credit card sized card with codes and they all match including the CD changer in the trunk. I've attached a (poor res) pictures of the unit and page 9 of the manual so you know I'm not smokin' anything...

Frankly I hardly ever turn it on- but maybe now I'll track down an iPod interface cable...

That is a very different radio. It has provisions for a casset tape. Do not remember that one.

575Ms, too. Brian is correct, that is a weird radio, but obviously original. A bit too subtle to be a Planet of the Apes relic, but close. Can say "mama", too.

I like Becker radios for their simple design.

Yes- I didn't even know they staill had casettes in 1999 but my '01 Suburban has a cassette player also. AT least if it was an 8 track it could be fashionably ancient... Cassette is just old, not nostalgic...

I'm still thinking I'm going to try to find another AUX input to graft an iPod into... I did this with my '72 Mercedes and it's very hidden and nice. But frankly I hardly ever even turn the radio on- I owned the car for months before I was aware it had a CD Changer- and found 6 CDs from the previous owner still loaded. (I did return them).

My 456M GTA has the cassette underneath the control face. What year is yours?
