Can anybody tell the year of this engine? F106A02100927 I was asking for certificate of the original vehicle colour in ferrariowners, but get this answer: "We would like to confirm you that we have received your request for the certificate of the Original Vehicle Colours, but we regret to inform you that the engine number: F106A02100927 does not match the original. For this reason, we have not been able to approve your request and issue the certificate." Which engine do I have?
That's too long of a number for an engine block.......IIRC it's four or five digits.. F106A is the frame type, although it should have a 'B' for berlinetta or 'S' for spyder following it... Example for mine F106AB.....1977 308GTB.......isn't that what you have?
Look on you rear engine frame rail that's the full VIN of your car.. F106AB(star)22127(star) for me.... Your engine number is stamped on a pad on the block somewhere......
Yes, I have a 1977 GTB. But it's this number I am reading in the top of the engine in the right side. I am going to check one more time.
i've got some partial info, '78 #00381 F106A 2v carb F106B 2v Inj So i'd guess somewhere between 78~80
the F106 A,F106 B and F106 AB are the engine types, the US has a 40 following the type. if you look at the pad on the block by the water pump the crankcase number is under the F106 --- fill the blank depending upon country and type.
and at some point in the early 80's it went to F 105 A and C for the 328 A is Euro base A 040 is US C is base Euro C 040 is US C 046 is CH version I think someone here put together a complete excel spreadsheet with all the types yrs and power. I lost mine in the crash, I'll see if i can dig it up again. a '77 would have a crankcase number lower than 00927
Here is a Euro chassis no plate. F 106AB will say: model GTB and the 021 will say: engine type 2 valve. and below is your chassis no. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The WSM will explain it if you have one for the 308 GTB/GTS, I don't. I do have them for the mondi's and the GT4, 328 GTB/GTS the 328 has a chassis type F 106 GB but a Engine type of F 105 A or C. the plate on the door is not for the engine according to the WSM for the 308/328, that info is stamped into the engine. exeption Dino, pic below Image Unavailable, Please Login
Leave the "F106..." out of it -- they are looking for a 5-digit number. In this example (previously posted by another FChatter), the "engine number" = "01503" Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here is a picture. It say F106A 021*00927 I forget the star last time. Should I take of the numbers before the star? And then the number is only 00927? Or is it a number somewere else? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mine says F105E040*00040 can sombody tell me if this looks right? Also what does ''E" means? I have an 84 GTS QV thank you.
Man , an early dry sump.....that's more than cool, brudda! I gotta try this feature with the engine replaced under Warranty when it blew....I'm dying to know if they will recognize that as 'original"...... It was "no cost"! LOL!
The number of the car is #21355 dry sump, and the number of the engine is 00927. Are this matching numbers or is the engine number to high? I get this information in ferrariowners.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'll see what I have on mine.. I have 1976 #20405 and 1977 #22127 here, but they are US wet sump examples.....
Maybe drop an email, they usually respond to mine........ Do you have Owner history of car all the way back? Look for your Warranty Booklet..........
No matching numbers on 308, but I believe they start the engine numbering over with different engine types so you'd need to compare only to other F106A equipped 308 to see if yours is an engine number that doesn't make sense vs approximate time or SN. Maybe it's just a translation thing, but F didn't actually say your engine number is incorrect -- perhaps they messed up on their end They might be hesitant to give out what engine number was originally in your SN, but they may be more open to clarifying if 00927 is not correct or if they don't just know -- might be worth one more email. Also do a search on "F106AE" -- although this is a US version engine family, it will get you several threads where heritage certificate issues have come up before.
I don't have the paper form when the car was new, so I will send an email and see what they find out. I just come from my garage. I have start to change the fuel lines. The fuelfiller hose to the tank was the first one. If I should do it again, I would have moved the oil cooler to get better space. I did not. What aboat the gearbox. Should this have the same number as the engine? My engine is #00927 and the gearbox is #1039
No relationship between Engine number and Gearbox number on 308, but the gearboxes use a similar (unclear ) system -- a gearbox family or type (F106AL in the example) and a sequential gearbox (serial) number for that family (1426 in the example): Image Unavailable, Please Login
