I got a 458 Spider that I want to do some work on. I keep leaning over the back of the vehicle to access the engine bay and I'm worried about scratching the paint. What all do you folks use to protect the paint while you working on your vehicles? Any suggestions or input would be helpful and appreciated. Thank you.

I use the large Griot’s microfiber towels for rear quarter panel protection. Works well.

To avoid scratches from clothes, I wear a t shirt and sport shorts, else padding is used. Also no jewellery.

I have used yoga mats for years with great success.

They are not expensive, thin but soft, and have just enough grip to not fall off complex curves.

Is there nothing that is designed for specific cars and for rear engine applications?

I have used moving blankets over a clean cotton thick bath towels ..and even sometimes used press and seal on a clean car then the towels or blankets

The press and seal help avoid any swirl marks or tiny surface scratches..

If there Is dirt or dust underneath, you run the risk of marring and scratching regardless of the material of the cover
