Apology for the rather boring question, but has any one found these mirrors to be a useful or a must have option on a 458? I will have to tint my side windows at least given the climate I live in.

You're talking about the outside ones?

I did not get them on my coupe but I ordered them on the spider. Here is the reason.

The 458 is really low. When you are in traffic and there's an SUV behind you at night, the lights of the SUV shine directly into your eyes.

With the electrochromatic, they automatically dim so the effect is much less. I find it helpful. I don't have to tilt the mirrors in traffic or use my hand to shield my eyes in stop and go traffic at night.

Also, I believe that the electrochromatic mirrors are paired with Homelink (remote control garage door opener).

No, not really. You can order Homelink separately without it.

But, it is in the bundled package of completely electric seats.

I wonder if they actually were put on my car, I ordered it with them and the interior mirror. The interior mirror "works" the outside ones even though i see the border in the mirror glass, i don't notice much of a difference at times, but then other times it works great.

use a flashlight or cover up the sensor to test. the mirror dims in seconds.

I was talking about both exterior and interior mirrors, but given that I live in hellish blazing sun making window tinting a true necessity, the outside mirrors would get dimmed by the tinting alone.

I understand what these mirrors do, but was wondering how useful they prove to be in practice on the 458.

You like the exterior auto dimming mirrors, how about the interior?

From the configurator you can order just interior electrochromatic mirror or both interior and exterior electrochromatic mirrors and you can add homelink to this bundle too.

ps. this option is some thing that is probably standard on a camry.

In the Canadian market, which I think is the same as the US (but I wouldn't swear to that) the interior e-mirror is bundled with Homelink. You can't get Homelink without the e-mirror, but you can get the e-mirror without the Homelink. The exterior mirrors are not part of the bundle.

I didn't get them in my Cali and regretted it. I have them on the 458 and they have worked well.

There is power up there. I have seen these mirros (after market) for sale. I'm sure one could swap them out. Now, integrating them with the side view mirrors is going to be more difficult.

My 458 has both and homelink. I would get it if I were you. In my F430 I had to keep remotes it was a pain.

I am not too concerned about the exterior mirrors as the necessary window tinting will minimize any glare, but my question is that is there much glare potential on the interior rear view mirror?
