Does anyone know what the black elastic sealant used to seal the vapour barrier inside the doors, in the front compartment, etc. is? I think it's the same stuff used to keep small cables in place, like the alarm antenna. It looks like some kind of very elastic silicone glue. I'd like to replace the vapour barriers and I'm wondering what I should use to make them stick to the door frames. Any suggestions welcome, especially if it's something I can buy here in the UK.

    Thanks!

Sorry I don't have a good answer, but when I destroyed mine and got the OEM replacement, the goo was already attached to the new material. I wanted to cleanly remove the original stuff, and got close, but that stuff is sticky strong!

Yeah, I reckon it's pretty close to that.

That's an interesting piece of information. Just to clarify, you bought what Ferrari calls a "Water Protection Cloth" (part number 66212800 for the LHS door, about £33+taxes and shipping here in the UK)? And it came with adhesive already on it?

    Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion. But isn't that rather inflexible?

Indeed it is. But I think it can do the trick.
Other to that is the Bison Silicone Sealant that can be used.

Trial and error is cheap on these products.
My car is in the repair shop at the moment.
Would you like to provide a picture of said component so I can ask the bodyshop man?

I haven't got a picture of the inside of my door - it's been a while since I last disassembled it. However here's a very good photo of what I mean by another poster:

You can see that the vapour barrier cloth/sheet has been detached from the door to access the door mechanism. I am looking for the best way to reattach it (either the old one or a new, replacement one).

If the vapor barrier doesn't come with the adhesive already attached, I would probably give this a try.

STRIP-N-STICK™ TAPE - Silicone Sponge Tape, Silicone Foam Tape & Silicone Solid Tape

On a side note, I can see the need for a vapor barrier in the doors; however, I don't see the need for one in the front compartment. Earlier model 360's, I have been told, did not have the front trunk vapor barriers. I was told they were added in later years.

    Could someone elaborate?

Oh, they're definitely needed up front for sure. Take 'em out and you're down to the steering rack, coolant pipes, the inside of the underfloor etc. Rain water wouldn't exactly be driven in there but there would be plenty of moisture and a definite need for protection.

Actually windshield ahesive is very flexible, has to be (mandated by NHTSA) because if it were stiff the windshield would crack when the body flexes
