    What is the prices around the world. Here in DK it is 117.000 DKK :eek: I nearly died. That's like $20.800 USD.

    $11,799 US from B+H photo. Way better off to buy a 400mm and put a 1.4x extender behind it, about half the cost.

    sure, your better off if you have no need for zooming capabilities...

    Not sure when I can afford a lens like this... but it wont be soon unless I win the lotto!

    The price for the Canon 200-400 is pretty outrageous. Guess they are gearing that only towards pros. The Nikon 200-400 F/4.0 VRII costs $6,749.00 plus an additional $399 if you want a 1.4x teleconverter. The Canon lens makes that seem like a bargain. Does anyone know why the huge cost difference?

    I have a feeling you are on to something. Canon seem t be gearing all their pro equipment, for pro's only by raising the price. The only way they know to get rid of other buyers who may complain about problems etc. more than pro's where it is usually only part of the job.

    Canon has sold over 1 million L lenses, I don't think their stratagie is to eliminate any market.
