Like most of us, I get tons of ads for spray "ceramic" products from 2,000 different manufacturers, I'd like something to apply to my daily driver SUV that goes on easy and offers better protection than standard spray wax. There seem to be way too many choices out there with lots of hyped claims. Does anyone have a recommendation for an easy to apply product that will give me the protection and ease of cleaning that the spray "ceramics" seem to offer?

The Gyeon stuff looks good, and easy to apply, but it beads up water like wax, what I'm looking for is something that will sheet water and dirt off like the so-called "ceramics." Again, there are lots of products that claim to do this with a simple spray application and a wipe, I know the true ceramics are more intensive to apply.

I have been impressed with Griot's 3-in-1 Ceramic Spray on daily drivers.

It basically goes on like a quick detailer, although I have found you need to give it a little extra care in fully buffing it off with a (separate) clean cloth after spraying on and spreading it out, and give it 24 hours to cure.

It is still not on the level of a pro-grade ceramic coating but works well and is still effective after a year or so. But it does "bead" water - I've never seen a Ceramic coating that didn't do this?

More than a spray sealant, Gyeon CanCoat is a very easy to use ‘coating-lite’. That line gets a bit blurred as with 1+ year effective life, it’s getting pretty close to some ‘glass bottle’ coatings

Bonus points for being effective on pretty much every exterior surface except glass. Paint, trim, headlights, tail lights, plastics…awesome product.

Sonax also has an 'easy to use' coating
    Sonax Ceramic Coating CC ONE

They have Nice easy to use products

Another favorite is Polish Angel with their 'hybrid" coatings - cosmic spritz and high gloss.

I think it also depends on what kind of exposure your vehicle gets

    just my two cents

My DD is always parked outside. Just to clarify a little bit I see ads for spray coatings that that show videos of water sheeting off the car, and imply that dirt and anything else is easy to rinse off, it also seems that they're saying that dirt and dust don't stick to the car as much. Much. I have no experience with any of these spray coatings. Just looking to see if anyone has used any of these.

In short, ceramics provide long-term good looks, increased chemical & environmental resistance and ease of cleaning/maintenance. You’ll still have to wash the car but ceramics do have a measure of self-cleaning characteristics due to the above mentioned attributes.

You’ll find ceramic-infused sealants that come out of a spray bottle, ‘coating lite’ products in either spray or glass-bottle formats and true glass-bottle ceramics. Effective life in real-world daily use are generally thought of in months, a year or so and multi-year respectively.

I’ve used a box load of all of those types on fair-weather-only cars, daily drivers as well as fleet vehicles that saw only sporadic washing/maintenance. The aforementioned benefits were present in all situations to a certain degree, generally based on vehicle usage patterns & washing/maintenance. I kept a lot of notes here if you like reading: https://budgetplan1.wordpress.com/glass-quartz-ceramic-coatings/

It sounds like you are looking for what a lot of casual users who stuck their head in my garage were looking for. I would give them some towels, a bottle of prep spray a can of CanCoat and some minimal instructions and after washing their car, wiping down with Prep and applying CanCoat they’d be happy as pigs in mud until the next Spring…when they did it again and rolled through another year with paint that had a nice candy-gloss, entertaining water behavior which lent itself to decent self-cleaning & protective qualities and lessened maintenance.

There’s no single ‘best’ ceramic for everyone but there may be a ‘best for you’ based upon your situation!

BP1 - I see you don’t post much, but when you do it’s good!

I’m a “home coater” and I’m happy to do mine once a year and it looks fantastic for that time.

I’m not looking for years from a single application…

Ceramics bead up when working properly. Gyeon spray on wet coat is easy and hard to beat.

I’ve used the Griots 3 in 1 with great results. Is it the best? I don’t have a clue but it goes on quick and lasts a long time. I bought a gallon so I have enough to last a few years. It’s important not to put it on too heavy. I use it on my airplane also.

    Thanks!

“Find something you like and use it often” is, in the end, the ‘best’ for each individual!

Came to Fchat years ago looking for detailer recommendations, stayed for the fascinating discussions on things like aviation, cooking, Formula 1 & such.

Don’t really know too much about Ferrari’s but do get to see a bunch at work all the time:

When I first started there co-workers ‘innocently’ lured me behind a big, black F-car which they then fired up to move on a chilly Autumn morning; hearing an Enzo cold-start is something I’ll not soon forget! [emoji41]

At the end of the day a true ceramic coating, which is ceramic polymers suspended in a solvent, will be significantly longer lasting and different than any water based product. For the most part, any spray ceramic is going to be water based and while many of them work great, as someone mentioned, the life of these products is measured in months (maybe weeks).

With that said, there are many great water based spray on products that contain silicone dioxide and ceramics, making for an effective coating that will get you great hydrophobic properties, great shine and depth and last a month or so.

3D GLW ceramic detailer - very good product with relatively easy application

P&S Beadmaker or Defender - similar to the 3D product above.

3D Bead it Up - I’ve found this to have the highest level of silicone making for a very durable coating with great hydrophobicity.

Gyeon, Griots, Adams all make good products as well.

I will note applying a true ceramic is incredibly easy, prepping the paint is the real skill, but if your car is newer, and you want the longevity of a ceramic, you can 100% do it yourself.

For context, when I ceramic coat a car, the paint prep will be 8+ hours, the application of the ceramic coating will be an hour (give
Or take). Claying, cutting and polishing the paint is the real art. [emoji41]
