Does this happen regularly; I know it can be cleared by turning off the car and restarting but it is symptomatic of a loomimg problem ??

I have this occasionally. I found it normally happens when you first move off after starting the car cold with the front wheels turned sharply. I think the computer doesn't like that. I asked the dealer and they said there was nothing wrong and to just restart the car.

I found it to occur more when the car had less than 1000 miles on it. Since then, it's only happened once or twice. It never happens when the car is warm.

I've got this a couple of time when I was switching off the engine. When I don't turn frankly the key, the Ediff light can light up a couple of seconds. The contacts of the ignition key aren't always making a perfect contact which is confusing some of the ECU's. Nothing serious though. While driving, the light came up only once and did have any EDIFF control anymore. CST OFF was indicated. After restarting the car, everything was fine again.

I had this error, but it was associated with low voltage a battery going bad. There was no problem with e-diff.

My car had a similar problem, it was sporadic at first. I would get the red e-diff warning light within the first 50 feet of driving following a cold start. I had to turn the car off and restart it, then I could pull away without getting the warning light. In the beginning, it would not come on following a hot re-start.

Then it started coming on more frequently, so I took it in for service. The dealer replaced the e-diff switch and control valve under warranty.

May I ask what's the 'EDIFF'? These cars have a proper LSD with mechanical clutches, RIGHT??? Hope you don't tell me it's an open differential with the ECU applying the brakes to simulate an LSD. I'd be sacrilege on a $200K+ car. But I'm ready for the bad news :).

I've had my 05 since new and never got an ediff light. However, I have a stick, I wonder if that's a factor?

I got the e-diff warning when I put my Scuderia on a dyno. The error cleared after driving 100 ft when I left the dyno shop.

Thanks for the link. It's probably the best differential there is (also known as 'torque vectoring'), but I'd have preferred a purely mechanical LSD myself for long-term reliability. Oh well. The car is relatively simple otherwise, compared to most modern ones, full of electronic gizmos, so all is well. Thanks again.

    Discussed here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=276392

    I have a 06 430.

On my last visit to the dealer they were able to fix it. Invoice states: "Found codes C2016 & C2017. Found pressure deviation too high. Replaced Pressure Control Valve"

    Valve was $694.62.

I got the E-DIFF warning for the first time today in my '07 three pedal F430 berlinetta. About 7,000 miles on the car. It was cold and came up after the start. I called the man at home, who said just to shut down and restart after a minute. Warning went away and didn't come back.

Checking Ferrari Chat, the same thing happened to others, some reporting the occurrance on a cold start with the wheels turned. I was indeed parked on a cul de sac with the wheels turned out, which is why I joined Ferrari Chat just now.

Just so you know, I am smitten with my three-pedal F430!

I got the warning as well on a cold start, looks like a system hiccup and false warning, a simple shut down and restart takes care of it, its been a year now.

Same thing happens occasionally to my 3 pedal 430 also. It only happens when the car is cold and when I start going forward after backing out of my driveway. I stop and restart and the warning light doesn't come back. I had my mechanic check to see if they're any codes that pop up on the SD3 and there were none.

My e diff light came on just after slow down light and buzzer going crazy
    F1 pump motor failure.
Nb: Was definately not the relay, as discussed here many times. Relay contacts were perfect. Was simply the pump motor had failed.
