I've heard great things about the company, but are they really as tough as people say?

I've had these Nike Flexons for over 4 years, and only the paint has worn off of them. They're a little loose now, but they're fine.

Will the Oakleys last me as long? I've picked out the Oakley Socket 2.0 frames.

My father and I both own a pair, and in terms of durability, mine looks just as good as it did the day I picked them up from the optometrist, he has had no complaints either. Those look nice!

I have a pair from the early 90's that are still in good shape. The lenses are pretty durable too. My lab got hold of a pair and chewed on them for hours...never pierced the lense.

All of my Oakley sunglasses that I've owned have been great for me. I have beat them to hell and back and they just stand up to it and last. In fact I just purchased a new pair of prescription sunglasses yesterday and can't wait until I can pick them up... http://oakley.com/pd/2064 I got those in the Polarized Silver/Dark Grey.

I've worn my Oakley eyeglasses everyday for 5+ years, still in great condition after a lot of standard teenage abuse.

I still have the 1st pair of Oakley's I bought years ago and aside from the minor lens scratches, the frames have held up nicely. Def would recommend this line for your sunglass wear.

I LOVE my Oakleys and have nothing but great things to say about them. I own 2 pairs, and have never broken either pair. The only thing i've had to do is buy new sleeves for my A Wires, because the rubber ripped. (I've owned this pair for 5+ years) I have the Juliets as well (Own them for about 3 years now), which are made from Titanium Alloy. They say they are unbreakable, and I believe them but I'm not going to test it.

If you look around their main site, you can find a few videos on them testing them. I believe there is one where they shoot it with a bullet and the lens doesn't crack or anything... I still wouldn't recommend using them to block a bullet though.

The lenses of my Frogskins that I got in 1988 are still as strong as the day I got them. The same can not be said for the "Iridium" coating on the lenses. I probably have six pairs of Oaxleys right now, and have probably gone through thirty pairs over the last twenty years, many have been lost to the ocean and a few to theives. The lenses do seem to scratch a bit easily, if you ask me, but the frames are very tough.

I bought a pair of Minutes back in say early 2000's. Out of 3 pairs of Oakleys owned, the only pair I've ever had an issue with. The paint around my nose area began to discolor and bubble. But my other two have been problem free.

Except for the fact I left my original eye jackets in my truck when I sold it. I remembered a week or so later. I figured my carelessness/forgetfullness was his gain. I only used those for the lake though.

heres how good this company is... my dog decided to chew my sunglasses up on time, I sent it to them hoping to salvage anything, they gave me a new pair for free. No questions nothing. I have a few now, great company, should have bought stock in them, but now they got bought out

I have a pair of Oakley Juliet's, they are absolutely fantastic. Incredibly durable, they have taken numerous hits from the ground, a baseball, a fist, people throwing things. I highly recommend them.

I think the one thing we can deduct from this thread is that some of you really need to update your look. :D

I have a pair of Juliet's as well that I have had since I was about 17, and mine have been amazing. They stand up to anything and everything. I have dropped them in the ocean, found them 5 mins later, threw some water on them, and they were as good as new haha. I have had so many pairs of Oakley's (my brothers usually steal them from me, or I give them a pair when I get new ones haha). My older brothers have both got a few pair themselves and love them all. I remember the first pair of Oakley's I stole from my brother in 4th grade to wear to school. They had lime green arms on them and were the Ray Ban style shades, man did I think I was cool that day with these huge big man sunglasses on my face hahaha.

I wish I had been so lucky. I bought a pair of Oakley sunglasses about 10 years ago while on vacation in FL. I returned home and a couple weeks later I went for a ride in a friends speedboat. Both of us had Oakleys on, mine less than one month old. He said put away anything you don't want to loose as we were about to take off :D, so both of us put our sunglasses in a small compartment on the boat. Neither of us had the protective sleeve they came in. The lenses got beat badly with many deep scratches on both pairs. However, mine were now totally useless. I called the FL dealer and they said they couldn't do anything for me. I went to a local dealer and they said such damage is not covered by warranty no matter how it happened. That was the last pair of Oakleys I bought. It was admittedly my fault, I just didn't expect them to scratch so easily. I also didn't know at the time of purchase that damage to the lenses was excluded from warranty coverage. Maybe that has changed since then, I just haven't taken that chance again.
