So I've been thinking of buying another sport touring motorcycle (I do love touring, and I also love riding sportish bikes)... the Ducati SuperSport 950 has come to my attention:

You can put hard bags and heated grips on it... maybe it is really the reincarnation of the ST4?

I have been leaning toward the BMW R1250RS, but maybe going back to my Ducati roots would be fun?

While I do like Ducs except for the 1st 750 sport I have never found their sport bikes comfortable.

Have you tried the Multistrada? I have sat on a few, never ridden one but was left with the impression it would be very comfortable. And I have heard they are a very competent performance bike.

I have tried Multistradas. They are cool, in a way, but since I have a GS Adventure I feel no need for another bike in that category. In fact, I am planning to sell my Triumph Tiger for that reason. Of course, I already have a great sport tourer as well, so arguably I don't need another one of those!

I'm making a case in my mind for the 950, though-- more sport bike than my Sprint, but still able to tour.

The 950 is supposed to be a bit more relaxed than their traditional sport bikes.

I looked at the Supersport yesterday. What a cool machine! It was hard for me to get out of there without writing a check... the main thing which gives me pause is the small gas tank. 4.2 gallons just doesn't seem like enough to me.

If you mean the Sprint, no, you would have to get in line and I am never selling, even after they send me to the old folk's home. I will put it in my room there and stare at it all day.

If you are talking about the Tiger, let me know where to ship it!

Picked up the Supersport 950S yesterday! I've put about 150 miles on it so far, seems like a great bike. Great motor, great suspension... it really has that classic Ducati feel that I have missed over the years. It's such a nice combination-- all I really need.

The bags and heated grips are on order, so that will make it more useful.

I picked up the bags and heated grips, and had the first service done. The bags look to be pretty functional, although I won't know until I actually take a trip with them. They expand via a zipper, which is nice. They are sort of the reverse of the Sprint's bags-- the Sprint's bags look huge and are tiny inside, while these look tiny but appear to actually be pretty roomy inside.

Interestingly, they don't lock, which I don't really see as a big deal since I don't carry anything valuable anyway, but it is different from the other motorcycle bags that I have.

2600 miles, of which 1700 were on one trip, from Las Vegas to Portland. On highway 50, one of my riding companions told me it was the first time he had seen a snow plow actually plowing while he was riding-- same for me!

We pulled into the Running Y in Klamath Falls, 6 GSs, 1 Harley PanAmerica, and me on my SuperSport. At dinner, the owner of the Running Y came over and asked if we were on the bikes out front. His next question was, "Who the heck is on the Ducati?"
